Boca Juniors Beat New York Red Bulls In Friendly
The Boca Juniors reserves defeated New York Red Bulls 2-1 in a friendly match played at the Bombonera stadium.
Boca Juniors may have fielded a reserve side, but they still proved too strong for Red Bulls New York, with a 2-1 victory at the Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires.
The ambassador of the United States in Argentina, Earl Anthony Wayne, was invited to attend the match, and he watched from the stands with Boca president Jorge Amor Ameal.
"Sport is a great way for our country's to interact. The players from the young league of my country are coming to Argentina to perform pre-season training more often each time, to learn from the clubs and the Argentine players. This interchange is vital for the development of the sport in America," Wayne declared to the press after the match.
Emiliano Diaz, the son of former River Plate legend Ramon Diaz, took part in the game for the Red Bulls.
As well as him, another Argentine, Juan Martin Pietravallo, was part of the team. Juan Pablo Angel, formerly of River Plate as well, also played.
Boca Juniors' first team will face Buenos Aires rivals Independiente on Sunday in Round 5 of the Argentine Clausura Championship.
