Colombian Defender Hertado Inked By Sounders
24-year-old Jhon Hertado has signed with the Seattle Sounders, joining former Deportivo Cali teammate Fredy Montero.
The Seattle Sounders have announced the signing of Colombian international defender Jhon Hertado. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, as per club policy.
Previously, the 24-year-old was on trial with Italian giants AC Milan, mainly because the wing-back has blistering pace. He even took the field for the Rossoneri in a friendly match against Hannover last month.
“Jhon has good speed, he’s a good man-to-man marker, a good tackler and uses his speed to close people down,” said Sounders FC technical director Chris Henderson. “We had a chance to see him play 2-3 times, plus some video. We’re excited to have him join our team.”
Hertado played for Deportivo Cali before his trial with Milan, where he was teammates with current Sounders player, Fredy Montero. He’s made 121 appearances in the top two divisions of Colombian football since 2004.
