The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that goalkeeper Joe Cannon has signed a new multi-year deal with the team after posting nine shutouts in 2008.
The 34-year-old has long been considered one of the top goalkeepers in Major League Soccer looks set to continue his career with the Earthquakes for the foreseeable future.
“We have always wanted Joe Cannon back in an Earthquakes uniform,” said General Manager of Soccer Operations John Doyle. “He had an excellent year in 2008 and we expect him to continue to play at a high level in 2009 and beyond.”
