Kansas City Add Argentine Hirsig

Kansas City Wizards have added attacker Santiago Hirsig from Argentine side San Lorenzo.

San Lorenzo - Santiago Hirsig
Kansas City Wizards have added another Argentinian attacker to their squad in the form of Santiago Hirsig. He joins countryman Claudio Lopez on the Major League Soccer side.

Hirsig joins from Argentine side San Lorenzo, and will finalize his contract with the league once his International Transfer Card and P-1 Visa arrive.

"We have come across a talented and gifted player through our expanding international scouting network and contacts,” Wizards Technical Director Peter Vermes said. “Finalizing the contractual negotiations with Santiago Hirsig gives another solid contributor to the Kansas City Wizards who can play in the center or out wide in the midfield."

It is thought that Cladio Lopez's decreased deal in 2009 allowed the club the financial space needed to sign the 31-year-old. The duo will look to lead the 'Zards deeper into the playoffs after crashing out in the first round in 2008.

"I am very excited to join the Kansas City Wizards,” Hirsig said. “I have followed MLS a lot in the past year, and I cannot wait to be part of the team and hopefully help the Wizards win MLS Cup in 2009."

With San Lorenzo Hirsig won the Argentinean tournament in 2007 and reached the finals of the Argentine Torneo Apertura in 2008.
