Gomez Returns To The Nation's Capital

34-year-old Christian Gomez was traded from the Colorado Rapids back to D.C. United in a three-player deal.

Christian Gomez has officially returned to his first MLS team, as he was traded from Colorado to DC on Monday evening.

The trade, which is arguably the biggest of the off-season so far, sees Gomez and 23-year-old goalkeeper Mike Graczyk coming to DC with an international roster spot and salary cap considerations. Going the other way is Honduran midfielder Ivan Guerrero, a designated player spot and a second round pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.

In 2004 Gomez began his MLS career with DC, and it turned out to be quite a successful stint as he played in the nation’s capital until 2007, scoring 39 goals over 97 total appearances for the Red-and-Black.

The 34-year-old Argentine made 20 appearances for the Rapids last season, scoring three goals. He’s a veteran of the Argentine leagues, having played with five different squads over 10-plus years in South America.
