MLS Clubs Chase Luis Miguel Escalada
Real Salt Lake lead the charge of MLS clubs looking to sign Luis Miguel Escalada.
According to reports, Major League Soccer clubs Real Salt Lake, Columbus Crew, and New York Red Bulls are all chasing Argentine striker Luis Miguel Escalada.
At one point, RSL head coach Jason Kreis was in Quito, Ecuador watching him train with Liga de Quito.
The 23-year-old earned a $1.1m transfer to Liga from the Boca Juniors youth team after impressing with Ecuadorian side Emelec on loan in 2006. In that loan season he scored 29 times in 40 games. In 2007, he helped Liga become Ecuadorian champions with 16 goals in 38 games.
However, Escalada has spent the last year away on loan, and is not expected to be in Liga's plans.
If he were to join Salt Lake, he would replace fellow Argentine striker Fabian Espindola in the roster.
