FC Dallas have announced through a press release that they have signed 24-year-old forward Sean Bucknor, formerly of the University of Tampa.

“We’re very happy to have Sean Bucknor with us,” said FC Dallas Head Coach Schellas Hyndman. “Sean is an athletic player who has great size, strength and speed. He’s very enthusiastic, you can see the hunger in his eyes, and he’s going to be a difficult player for opponents to handle.”

A community college standout, Bucknor attented Owens Community College in Findlay, Ohio, scoring 28 goals during his freshman and sophomore years (2006-2007). The goals were good for the school’s all-time scoring recorded, and prompted him to transfer to the University of Tampa, where he didn’t play.

Bucknor joins a very talented group of forwards in Dallas, the likes of which include Golden Boot Runner-up Kenny Cooper, Jeff Cunningham and recently acquired Dave van den Bergh.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Bucknor spent most of his life in Jamaica and has made appearances with the Jamaican national team at the Under-17 level.
