People Can Help RSL Player’s Wife Fight Cancer
The wife of Andy Williams, who plays for Real Salt Lake and Jamaica, is battling a rare, deadly form of leukemia, but there are ways for people to help.
Few things are more difficult than dealing with loved ones who have become sick, especially if the illness is life threatening. Real Salt Lake midfielder Andy Williams is going through those emotions right now as his wife, Marcia, has been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia.
Goal.com’s Kyle McCarthy wrote his Monday MLS Breakdown on the couple and their struggle, and the people and organizations that has supported them so far.
Now, it’s everyone else's turn.
Marcia needs a bone-marrow transplant to help cure the disease that is ravaging her immune system. Unfortunately, her type of bone marrow is a rare one and a match is yet to be found.
It’s time for the soccer community to unite to help one of its own. The Goal.com editorial staff will be getting their bone marrow checked to see if a match can be found within our ranks, and we are asking others to do the same.
For more information on where to have a bone-marrow check, please visit the National Marrow Donor Program. Also visit Soccer Unites Utah, a charitable organization that has been actively working in aide of the Williamses.
Time is of the essence for Marcia Williams. Please, join Goal.com in our support of Andy and Marcia.
