Brazilian Roger Pens One Year Deal With D.C.
D.C. United have signed 33-year-old defender Roger on a one year contract, after the Brazilian saw his contract expire with Fluminense.
D.C. United have signed Brazilian defender Roger to a one year deal.
The former Fluminense player has struggled with a back injury and has not played in three months, and saw his contract with the Brazilian club expire last year. As such, he will sign as a free agent with the Major League Soccer Club.
"I had other possible offers which could be better financially, but I wanted to go to (the United States) with my family," Roger said according to the Lance sports daily.
"I'm investing in my future and in the future of my family. I want to end my career in the United States."
D.C. is busy rebuilding their squad after disappointingly missing out on the playoffs in 2008. Roger may replace Gonzalo Peralta in the defensive line. The Argentine has been loaned out to Union de Sante Fe.
