Kreis Inks New Deal

Real Salt Lake head coach Jason Kreis signed a new deal that will keep him in Utah through the 2011 season.

Real Salt Lake head coach Jason Kreis inked a new contract with the club that will keep the former Dallas Burn striker on the sidelines in Utah through the 2011 season. Kreis, who led RSL to the Western Conference Finals in 2008, posted a 10-10-10 record with the club in his first full season as manager.

The overhaul of talent in Salt Lake which was headed by Kreis has allowed one of the Major League Soccer’s all-time great players to begin his legacy as one of the best young coaches in the league.

“It is imperative that the competitive side of our organization maintain continuity and build off of last season's success,” said team president Bill Manning in a press release. “The dedication, work ethic and commitment to excel on the team have been exemplary under Jason's direction, and I felt it was important to secure the future of our coaching staff before going into the last year of his deal.”

Kreis was also excited to get the contract signed and understands the lofty expectations that come with a new deal.

“We have turned things around to the point where the great people of Utah believe, as I do, that 'Fortune Favors the Bold,” the MLS legend said. “Everyone involved in establishing the expectations of success for our team continues to work towards earning championships, and I do not take that responsibility lightly.”

Kreis, along with the rest of the RSL front office, will spend Thursday in St. Louis for the MLS SuperDraft where RSL will try and build on an impressive amount of young talent already with the club.
