Former Cal Stand-Out Purdy Signs With FC Dallas

A busy day for FC Dallas saw the team sign former Cal Bears stand-out Steve Purdy

Former Cal University star Steve Purdy has signed with FC Dallas from 1860 Munich according the Western Conference team.

The 6’4” defender from San Jose, California had spent last season with the Bundesliga 2 side, but never made it off the bench. In fact, he only made it to the substitutes bench only once in his year-long career in Germany.

Playing four years at Cal (2003-2006), Purdy amassed an impressive five goals as a senior, good for second on the team. He also added two assists and 28 shots. He was drafted 5th overall in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft by the LA Galaxy, but the team no longer owns his rights.

Besides being second on his team in scoring during his senior year, Purdy played in front of top goalkeeper prospect Stefan Frei, a 2009 Generation Adidas Player.
