Parkhurst Set For Danish Adventure
New England Revolution defender Michael Parkhurst is set to sign with Danish SuperLiga team Nordsjaelland, according to reports.
Central defender Michael Parkhurst, formerly of the New England
Revolution, has reportedly come to an agreement to join Danish team FC
Nordsjaelland.
The 24-year-old MLS standout has previously stated his desire to play in Europe and now it appears his wish is about to be granted. A press conference has been scheduled by the Superliga club for Tuesday.
“We’ve known for close to a year, if not a little longer, of his desire to playing in Europe once his existing MLS deal expired," Mike Burns, the Revolution's VP of Player Personnel, told Goal.com. "It’s disappointing to lose a player like Michael, we respect his position on the matter and wish him luck."
Burns also explained that the Revolution are looking to Costa Rica international Gabriel Badilla as a replacement. "We move on," Burns said. "So, yes, it was part of the thought process when we had the opportunity to sign Badilla.”
Parkhurst, the 2007 MLS Defender of the Year, has spent his entire MLS career with the Revolution, having made 115 appearances since 2005. He has also won four caps as part of the US Men’s National Team.
