Ljungberg Latest MLS Recruit
Former Premier League star Freddie Ljungberg has left England for the United States of America...
Reports out of Sweden claim that Swedish star Fredrik Ljungberg, 31,
has signed for Major League Soccer side the Seattle Sounders and will
be unveiled by the club at a press conference on Tuesday.
Ljungberg captained Sweden in the European Championships in the summer but then had his West Ham United contract terminated on undisclosed terms a few weeks later.
The attack-minded midfielder enjoyed an illustrious career with Arsenal where he found equal fame for his quirky red hair together with his ability to arrive in the centre of the box to finish off a good team move. He enjoyed a Premier League double in 2002, a further League title in 2004, and two more FA Cups in 2003 and 2005.
Ljungberg joins a growing list of EPL alumni in the States such as David Beckham and Juan Pablo Angel.
