The player’s current deal expired on Monday and the Giallorossi did offer him a better wage package but the former Parma man chose to decline.

Ferrari has been looking for an exit for quite a while as he has become unhappy at being used as a substitute in Luciano Spalletti’s squad.

Corci has confirmed that the player will be leaving the Olimpico but he has not revealed which road Ferrari will be taking.

“Ferrari’s contract expired on Monday and Roma did offer him a really good deal,” Corci told LaRomaSiamoNoi.

“However, our decision was a personal one as Ferrari considers himself to be a very important player. He has always been treated as a spare here and it seems as if he was never really accepted in this environment.

“Matteo just wants to get his career back on track. He will be moving to a different club but I cannot reveal which.”

Reports in Italy have claimed that Ferrari will be moving to Fiorentina to join up with former Parma coach Cesare Prandelli.

The player himself recently revealed his penchant for La Viola and thus a move to Florence seems on the cards even though his agent is keeping the cat in the bag.
