FULL-TIME! Wolves 0-2 Manchester City: Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri strikes consign Wolves to Championship football next season, whilst City benefit from Manchester United's slip-up from earlier to move three points behind their rivals and, significantly, have a far superior goal difference heading into next Monday's Manchester derby. What a game and finish to the season we have in prospect.
  • 90' + 1'
Yaya Toure almost seals it for City with a curling effort from the edge of the area, but it flies inches wide of De Vries' post. Mancini's men going three points behind United.

That second goal has really given City a comfort zone now and they look to have this in the bag. Stearman almost heads into his own net from Zabaleta's dangerous cross but Wolves look dead on their feet here.
  • 81'
The heavens have opened here at Molineux, but I'm sure the Wolves players would like a black hole to open and swallow them up after their miserable season. Aguero almost adds salt to the wounds but over-complicates things when through on goal and De Vries gathers easily.
  • 78'
Tevez's reward for his part in the second goal is to be replaced by Adam Johnson, who is immediately into the action by forcing De Vries into a smart stop.

    Goal Samir Nasri
GOAL! Samir Nasri surely consigns Wolves to relegation to the Championship as he doubles his side's lead after a clinical piece of play by Carlos Tevez. After being fouled, the Argentinian plays a quick one-two with Gael Clichy before running at the home side's defence, before feeding in the French international, who finishes with aplomb.
  • 70'
Yaya Toure has taken up a more advanced role behind the two strikers now and it appears to be settling City down again. Tevez almost capitalises on a Stearman error but his shot is blocked.
  • 64'
A bold substitution by Connor as he introduces Kevin Doyle to the fold for the ineffective David Edwards. In doing so, Wolves are going from a 4-4-2 to a 4-5-1 but it is almost City who put the game out of their reach as Tevez latches onto Yaya Toure's pass after a surging run from the Ivorian. Tevez's cross-shot cannot find Aguero at the back post though.

Roberto Mancini clearly acknowledges Wolves' spirited start to this second half and duly introduces Nigel De Jong to beef up his midfield numbers, but Wolves are hassling and harrying City into little mistakes here and there. Terry Connor will be very proud of his team's effort in this second period.

Wolves close to an equaliser! Brilliant leap from Fletcher after a long free-kick is nodded on but Joe Hart is equal to it and gets across to his right to get the ball away. City under some real pressure here, with the home side bombarding their area with a series of corners and throw-ins.
  • 49'
Terry Connor clearly has rallied his men during the interval here! They have started brilliantly and the Molineux faithful are creating a great atmosphere here. Jarvis speeds past Zabaleta but cannot get his way past Vincent Kompany in the end and City just about clear their lines.

Wolves get us going again for the second half here.

HALF-TIME! Wolves 0-1 Manchester City: Sergio Aguero's 27th minute strike is the difference between the two sides at the break but Roberto Mancini will be annoyed at his side's profligacy in front of goal at times and with only one goal separating the teams, Wanderers boss Terry Connor and his troops will still fancy their chances here.
  • 39'
Both teams seem to be settling for this at half-time. City rolling around the ball nicely but it breaks down in the final third each time. Aside from a Nasri cross, which flashes wide, there is little to talk about here.
  • 35'
Both teams have had half chances in the last three minutes. First, Tevez robs Bassong of possession before the ball is worked out to Aguero who cuts it back for his fellow countryman but his effort is straight at De Vries. Down the other end Kightly's cross is slightly over-hit and cannot find the stretching Fletcher in the middle.
  • 32'
City keeping the ball well but not really too much going on here at Molineux at the moment. Wolves stunned by conceding that first goal. Can they rally themselves?
  • 27'
    Assist Gael Clichy

    Goal Sergio Agüero
GOAL! Manchester City take a deserved lead and it's Sergio Aguero who gets it with his 22nd Premier League strike but all the credit must go to Gael Clichy here. After working his way down the left wing, his crossfield pass finds Aguero in acres of space in the box, who finishes beyond De Vries with a clinical finish. Game over?
  • 25'
Tevez proving a real menace for the home side's defence and twice tests De Vries. First the veteran keeper shows good awareness to sprint off his line and claim with the Argentinian bearing down on goal and a minute later he keeps out the diminutive striker's low shot.
  • 22'
City really are strolling through the gears here, and it appears to be a matter of when rather than if at the moment. This time, Aguero's strike is fired wide of De Vries' upright. City have done everything but hit the target so far
  • 19'
What a chance for City again! Huge let-off for Richard Stearman, whose inexplicable header back to De Vries is anticipated by Aguero but instead of bringing the ball down, he attempts an ambitious lob with the outside of his right foot which, slightly inevitably, rolls harmlessly out for a goal-kick.
  • 15'
City come close again! Wonderful Barcelona-esque football from the visitors and after a lovely exchange between Silva and Pablo Zabaleta, the latter feeds through the onrushing Samir Nasri who drags his shot just wide.
  • 12'
Wolves create a brilliant opening and the youngster Davis comes so close to scoring his first Premier League goal. Matt Jarvis' cutback is laid off by Steven Fletcher and the combative midfielder's side-footed effort is parried away for a corner by Joe Hart. The visitors yet to settle into this game properly.
  • 9'
Wolves threaten after the lively Kightly runs at Gael Clichy, but as it breaks kindly to Aguero, City break quickly but the Argentinian seeks out Tevez when David Silva was perhaps better placed and it comes to nothing.
  • 6'
So close to a Manchester City opener! Sergio Aguero fires just inches wide of Dorus De Vries' far post after Gareth Barry's lofted through-ball. City beginning to see more of the ball...
  • 3'
We were only a minute into this game and already there could have been two goals. First Carlos Tevez rolls young David Davis in midfield before lashing his shot, from a similar position to where he scored at Norwich last week, well over the bar. Then, down the other end Michael Kightly forces a corner which finds the unmarked Sebastien Bassong on the edge of the area, and his deflected volley troubles Joe Hart and goes out for another Wolves corner, which comes to nothing.

Manchester City get us underway here at Molineux!
  • The stadium announcer at Molineux gives a rousing shout of 'never say never' as the teams emerge onto the pitch. How long will that optimism last today?
  • City boss Roberto Mancini playing more mind games it seems. Says prior to this game that Manchester United's draw with Everton "doesn't change anything." Hmmm..
  • Joleon Lescott makes his 100th Premier League appearance at Molineux, the ground where he first made his name as a Premier League defender for Wolves.
  • Manchester City make one change from the side that thrashed Norwich 6-1 at Carrow Road last week as Yaya Toure is re-introduced for Nigel De Jong. Pablo Zabaleta is once again preferred to Micah Richards whilst Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero, who have scored eight goals between them in their last two games, start again up front. Line up: Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy; Yaya Toure, De Jong; Silva, Nasri; Tevez, Aguero. Subs: Pantilimon, Kolarov, Toure, Milner, Johnson, De Jong, Dzeko.
  • Wolves make four changes from the side that drew with Sunderland last week as Dorus De Vries, Sebastien Bassong, David Edwards and Matt Jarvis come in for Wayne Hennessey, Christophe Berra, Anthony Forde and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake respectively. Line up: De Vries; Foley, Stearman, Bassong, Ward; Kightly, Henry, Davis, Jarvis; Edwards; Fletcher. Subs: Ikeme, Johnson, Berra, Zubar, Milijas, Ebanks-Blake, Doyle.
  • Hello and welcome to's live commentary of Wolverhampton Wanderers v Manchester City. It is set to be a key clash here as both sides need a victory for completely contrasting reasons. The home side will be relegated unless they secure victory, whilst the visitors will go just three points behind title rivals Manchester United, who slipped up earlier against Everton, with a win.
