Ali Al Habsi
Could do nothing about Dzeko's goal but produced a stunning save at full stretch to deny the Bosnian in the second half. Also alert to keep out sharp efforts from Silva and Aguero in an impressive performance.
Defended reasonably well up against City's fluent strike force and got forward to join the attack, but his delivery was wayward.
The Wigan captain failed to lead by example. Allowed Dzeko to head the ball too easily for City's opener and was sloppy on the ball at times. Fortunate that sliced clearance in the second-half went wide of his own post.
Strong and powerful defending against Nasri and didn't panic on the ball. Ridiculously handballed two minutes from time resulted in a booking when he should have been sent off with Aguero ready to run through on goal.
Looked fine when the ball was in front of him but struggled on the turn, especially against Aguero, as his lack of pace was exposed.
The Spaniard started well, fizzing a dangerous cross into the City penalty area from the left flank. That was probably the highlight of his match, however, as he was well dealt with by Zabaleta.
Brave to always demand the ball and played some nice passes in the center of the pitch, but found it more difficult when put under pressure. Excellent run and shot in the second half but was denied by Hart.
The midfielder didn't get close enough to Barry or Milner as City were allowed to control possession. Had a few sights on goal and came closest with a left-footed shot that Hart saved comfortably. Substituted in the 68th minute.
Far too casual both in terms of his work-rate and his passing. Had ideas and creativity but drifted through the game with a very unremarkable display.
The attacker was Wigan's liveliest player throughout the match and looked like the one man who might cause City some problems. Direct running at the visitor's defense but his decision-making and execution in the final third was poor.
Worked hard up front but lacked any cutting edge. Seemed to have a decent understanding with Moses but never got a sight on goal.
Kept himself warm in the City goal despite the freezing temperatures and proved his alertness with a fine stop - with his foot - to keep out McCarthy's shot. It was his only real action of the game but it might have proved the difference between one point and three.
The Serbian looked a little shaky early on but grew in confidence, showing defensive awareness and a willingness to take on the physical battle.
A solid performance as he showed why he is City's best left-back. Excellent cross early on that Dzeko glanced wide of the post and produced another dangerous delivery that Wigan somehow cleared just after the hour mark.
Continued in his role as leader of the back four in Kompany's absence. Strong and dominant in the air, although Wigan's feeble attack didn't provide too much of a challenge.
The Argentine never looked troubled by Crusat as he displayed his defensive instincts. Offered a threat when he joined the attack, particularly at the start of the second-half.
The Spaniard returned from an ankle injury to remind City why he is so important to their title challenge. Floated into space and always seemed to have an awareness of the angles around him. Lovely free kick for Dzeko's goal and forced Al Habsi into action with a firm shot in the second half.
Neat and tidy on the ball as he drifted into pockets of space, but seems to be lacking confidence in the final third despite a couple of good square passes in the second half. Replaced by de Jong in the 74th minute as City looked to see the game out.
Efficient passing on the whole but failed to have much impact on City's attacking display. Lost the ball in the second half as Wigan created a chance for McCarthy - Wigan's best opportunity of the game.
Controlled the tempo for much of the game, especially in the first half. Picked up loose balls and his passing was always accurate.
The Bosnian ended a run of 11 games without a goal with a powerful leap and precise header in the 22nd minute. Had earlier served a warning when he glanced wide from a tight angle. Offered a physical presence but infuriated City when he took a chance off Aguero's toes - and scuffed his effort straight at Al Habsi.
The most impressive aspect of his performance was the non-stop work ate as he continually put Wigan's players under pressure. Sharp shot across goal brought a good save from Al Habsi and deserved more after Dzeko took the ball following a superb slaloming run.
- 12 M. Pollitt
- 2 S. Gohouri
- 17 E. Boyce
Replaced Gomez nine minutes from time but had little involvement.
Replaced McArthur in the 68th minute and provided some bite in midfield as Wigan had more of a go at it in the closing stages.
F. Di Santo
Came on for Crusat in the 68th minute and led the line for the final quarter of the game. Some nice movement but never threatened City.
- 18 C. Sammon
- C. Pantilimon
Replaced Silva nine minutes from time as City went to five at the back.
- 44 K. Rekik
- 13 A. Kolarov
- 20 O. Hargreaves
N. de Jong
Replaced Nasri in the 74th minute. Booked for typically robust challenge on Rodallega and screened the defense well.
Came on for Aguero in added time.
