The Whitecaps will be in celebration mode, but San Jose aims to spoil the fun as the Western Conference foes clash in B.C.
The San Jose Earthquakes will be looking to play the role of party crashers on Saturday.
The 'Quakes will face the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place as part of the Cascadian side's 40th anniversary celebration. San Jose head coach and former Whitecap Mark Watson leads the struggling Northern California outfit into British Columbia in search of a second win on the season. The Earthquakes have average just one goal scored in each of their six regular season matches thus far in 2014, and they will need to find some offense to counter a Vancouver side that scores for fun at BC Place.
Nine of the Whitecaps' 12 goals this season have been scored at home, and with the pre-game celebrations spurring them on they will be expected to continue that trend on Saturday. Vancouver is winless in four matches, but the team is coming off consecutive 2-2 draws against LA and RSL, respectively, which indicate that its attack is still in top form.
The match kicks off at 7 p.m. Eastern on TSN2 in Canada and MLS Live in the United States.
