Seattle won its third-ever Cascadia Cup with a 3-1 win over Vancouver, marking the final MLS match to be played in Empire Field. The Seattle Sounders took their third Cascadia Cup crown with a 3-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps, coming from behind to do so.
Camilo opened the scoring for the home side in the 22nd minute. Davide Chiumiento and Eric Hassli did incredibly well to set up Camilo, with the former supplying the final ball for a simple finish.
But the Sounders stormed back. Alvaro Fernandez' shot was blocked by Jay DeMerit's hand in the box just 10 minutes later, giving Seattle a penalty. Brad Evans stepped up and knocked the shot home, leveling the match.
Things would stay that way until a quickfire brace from Fredy Montero put the match to bed just after the hour mark. In the 64th minute, Montero scored a nice individual goal, controlling a clearance, slipping his mark and firing home. Then, three minutes later, Montero delivered again, ripping a shot that took a deflection and dropped into the goal to round out the scoring.
