The 20-year-old was electric with his double as the Whitecaps ended their recent run of poor form. The Vancouver Whitecaps defeated the LA Galaxy for the first time in franchise history and snapped a seven-game winless rut, winning 3-1 on the back of a double from young midfielder Russell Teibert.
Teibert scored his first shortly after the hour mark, wriggling free on the edge of the LA penalty area and rifling a low shot into the far corner.
The 20-year old grabbed his second in the 76th minute. Playing a ball forward to Gershon Koffie, Teibert followed up and timed his run well to side-foot the layoff past Carlo Cudicini.
LA's homegrown rookie Gyasi Zardes pulled one back late, rising up over the Vancouver defenders to nod home Jose Villarreal's cross.
But just as the Galaxy had a late glimmer of hope, Darren Mattocks scored to put the game out of reach with a fluid turn-and-shot move from close range.
