Premier League Preview: West Ham United - West Bromwich Albion

Premier League Preview: West Ham United - West Bromwich Albion

Hammer Time

The east London side really need to start winning some much needed points if they are to stop a steady decline back to the Championship, five years after coming up. Saturday's draw at Birmingham looked for all the world like it was going to be the Hammers' first away win of the campaign but they let the home side back into the game.

Avram Grant has been told his job is secure (or given the dreaded vote of confidence, whichever depending on your disposition) but will be hoping Kieron Dyer’s return from injury can provide the spark that the team need and the midfielder might start against the Baggies. Although their record against their west Midlands opposition isn't great: a draw, and win and two defeats in their last four hostings of the Baggies.

Start As You Mean To Go On

The Baggies explosive start to their Premier League campaign is slowly wilting - with defeats to Blackpool and Manchester City in the past 10 days. And this despite the famous 3-2 victory at Arsenal, which as it stands represents their only away win of the campaign.

Manager Roberto Di Matteo is as a loss: “At the moment we just have a few problems with injuries and suspensions and we just have to deal as well as we can with it and lift ourselves up. It’s still a long season and it’s only early.”
