Unable to do much for the Darren Bent header that leveled the sides before half-time. Solid when called upon, with Bent continuing to trouble his goal mouth.
Manuel da Costa
A brief cameo from the Portuguese man, who was substituted fifteen minutes into the game following injury to be replaced by Danny Gabbidon
Started off well finding space down the left hand side in attack. Yet was caught our for the Aston Villa goal as his poor marking of Bent allowed the striker space to head the ball into the net.
Solid display from the right-back who didn’t fall foul of Ashley Young throughout the game, managing to keep the England winger relatively quiet.
Looked suspect at times today, with the pace and movement of Bent catching him out at times and forcing Green into action.
Failed to fully fill the boots of absentee Scott Parker today. Didn't do too much wrong, but did spend too much of the game as a by-stander.
Spirited performance from the former Middlesbrough man, who worked well down the right, despite his input being limited at times Luke Young at full-back.
A day to forget for the West Ham man, whose cheap loss of possession led to Aston Villa’s equalizer, whilst he capped off his afternoon with an absent performance from midfield.
Unlucky not to win a first half penalty after Richard Dunne’s shove on the edge of the box evaded the eyes of the referee. Became quiet after a strong start to the action.
Immediate impact from the Irishman who did well to find space in the box after Aston Villa failed to clear a corner, firing home from 2-yards after two minutes. Continued to look lively and found strike partner Carlton Cole throughout.
Solid effort from the American who was faultless for Keane’s opening strike. Forced to make a good save from Cole to prevent the hosts doubling their lead.
Worked well in defense with Dunne, helping to quickly fan out the early threat that Cole and Keane’s partnership had posed.
Poor defensive display from the youngster, who was routinely troubled down the left hand side by Victor Obinna. Remained a threat going forward, as he linked up well with Downing on the right flank
Settled into the game well with a solid performance, having been troubled by Carlton Cole early on. Looked a constant threat from attacking corners.
Great cross to find the head of Darren Bent for Villa’s equalizer. Offered an attacking option throughout for his namesake Ashley, although left space in behind at times.
Lively performance down the right-hand side from Downing, who worked well with the overlapping Walker to exploit the space in behind Wayne Bridge.
Looked promising at times today, despite failing to fully capitalize on the room and space that presented itself in front of Jacobsen. A 20-yard curling free-kick expertly saved by Green was the best of his chances, whilst his last minute cross led to Agbonlahor's winner.
Good display from the former Hammers man, who held his own on his return to the Aston Villa midfield. Linked up play well throughout, but caught in possession once or twice.
The captain maintained his starting place in the Aston Villa midfield today, and deservedly so. Whilst not producing much creatively, he shored up the leaks from midfield to steady his side towards the end of the game.
Good show from the £24million man, who looked lively throughout and a struggle to handle for Upson. Bagged a first half header to level the scores after his earlier effort had been ruled out for a foul.
Struggling return to the Villa starting XI, as the former Wigan man struggled to hold the ball up in the opposition’s third. Replaced by Agbonlahor.
- 31 R. Boffin
- 18 J. Spector
Troubled by Bent and Young throughout the second half, yet did well to intervene at the last moment a number of times.
- 13 Boa Morte
- 30 F. Piquionne
Replaced Victor Obinna with half an hour left to play on the clock, yet failed to make a real impact.
Lively following his introduction for the injured Gary O'Neil. Was involved in majority of West Ham attacking play, yet failed to find quality when needed.
