Had to be alert describe the home side's dominance, making an excellent finger-tip save to tip Ba's shot onto the post in the first half. Was left isolated by his defense at the start of the second half and could do nothing about the Hammers goals.
Showed his class with some neat touches when the home fans must secretly have been praying for a big hoof clear. Jara has managed to tone down his rash tackling and looks a solid defender. Was happy to receive the ball and looked to play intelligent passes forward.
Reliable as ever at left-back, Shorey did well to keep O'Neil quiet and was happy to bomb past Thomas as Albion attacked.
Headed everything that he needed to and did well against the aerial presence of Cole. After a composed first half, Olsson looked less assured in the second half as West Ham threw men forward in search of an equalizer. Was often beaten in the air and struggled to stamp his mark on the Albion defense when they needed a leader.
Received a knock in the first ten minutes and was replaced by Morrison early on.
What a start fro the fit-again midfielder, who fired Albion into the lead after just three minutes with a thunderbolt of a 25 yard striker that gave Green no chance. Dorrans looked like the player that received so many plaudits last season and was energetic throughout, nearly scoring a second long-range goal but being denied by a fingertip save from Green. Struggled in the second half and was replaced by Tamas as Albion tried to hang on.
Has settled into his new central midfield role well and relishes having players like Thomas and Odemwingie running ahead of him. Brunt played some
Will be disappointed that he didn't do better for West Ham's first goal after getting the wrong side of Ba and failing to prevent the striker from chesting the ball and slotting home. Looked comfortable on the ball and tried to play his way out of trouble but always like capable of a mistake or a slip.
Not on the score sheet but performed well in a first half that Albion dominated. Ran the Hammers defense ragged and looked like beating Da Costa every time. Was forced to defend in the second half and struggled to hold the ball up as he was left as a lone figure up the field.
Ran the channels well and supported Odemwingie in a 4-4-2. Was physical and looked terrific in the first half but seemed to struggle in the second period as Albion sat deep after the Hammers surprise comeback. Found himself isolated and wasted a few passes when his team-mates needed him to hold up the ball.
Could do nothing about Albion's three first half goals as Dorrans smashed the first into the top corner and Thomas was given the freedom of the Hawthorns to slot the second into the bottom corner before Reid's own goal from close range. Had to be alert as was offered no protection by his defense and did well to tip another long-range Dorrans effort for a corner.
Like Da Costa, Reid struggled against a fluent Baggies' attack. Was unlucky to score an own goal after just 30 minutes when he deflected Dorrans deep free-kick past Green as he ran towards his own goal.
Looked exposed against Thomas as the winger was happy to go either way against the full-back - who failed to stop his man on many occasions. Was unable to get forward and support O'Neil as Albion dominated.
M. da Costa
A replacement for the injured Upson, Da Costa struggled against the pace and movement of the West Brom attack. Looked nervous at times and was run ragged by speed of Odemwingie and the strength of Fortune.
Did well against Morrison and looks more like the player he used to be after a run of games in the side. Got forward well and defended like an experience professional.
Worked hair down the right wing and tried to supply Cole without really dominating Shorey. Hit the crossbar with a thunderbolt of a strike from 25 yards just before half-time. Was replaced after 78 minutes.
Booked for a late tackle on Brunt and was a sign of the wingers frustrations at a poor attacking performance. Was not given enough service but kept running and did not give up.
As ever Parker was the Hammers star player. Everything they did went through the midfielder and he showed his excellent passing range and never-say-die attitude. Parker battles for every cause and is certain to be in the Premier League next season even if the Hammers aren't.
Booked for a late tackle but performed admirably in a poor team. Doesn't have the ability of Parker but doesn't give up and was constantly harrying the Albion midfield. Produced a lovely clipped pass over the head of Scharner to set Ba up to score at the start of the second half. Buoyed by West Ham's excellent second half start Noble showed his intelligence by clipping a free-kick to the unmarked Piquionne at the far post who nodded across for Cole to grab a second goal.
Looked a bit over-awed and surprised by the tempo over the Premier League, often finding himself harried out of possession after hanging onto the ball for too long. Showed some good instincts by pouncing on a loose ball in the first half, only for Myhill to tip his effort onto the post. Improved in the second half and did well to net his first goal for the club, peeling off Scharner and chesting down Noble's pass expertly before slotting past Myhill.
Looks like a player that needs a good supply, one that he wasn't getting at the Hawthorns today. Did manage to find the net but was ruled offside in the first half. Scored the Hammers second goal with a close range header after some dreadful defending by Albion from a Noble free-kick.

Replaced Dorrans with just ten minutes to go.
Replaced Mulumbu with just 13 minutes gone.
Replaced Thomas after 60 minutes and looked lively - firing a shot at Green's goal that was well blocked almost immediately. Looked a bit lost amid a fast-paced game and gifted the Hammers possession far too easily at times.

Replaced Boa Morte in the first ten minutes of the second half and made an instant impact, heading across goal from Noble's free-kick for Cole to nod home the Hammers second goal.
