Looked unlucky with the penalty decision. Appeared to make the right decision going to ground - with Jones looking to exaggerate any contact that there might have been. Had no saves to make and could do nothing about any of the goals after being sent the wrong way by both penalties and being left exposed for Walters injury-time third.
Didn't look like the Chilean had missed the last three league games due to a suspension. Slotted in at right-back effortlessly and did well against Etherington. As well as keeping the winger quiet, Jara was not shy in getting forward and supporting the West Brom attack.
A good display from Cech - who might have done enough to keep Shorey out of the side. Dealt with Tuncay well and his distribution was accurate.
Much was made of how the Spaniard would adapt to the height and power of Jones - but Ibanez did extremely well. Kept the striker quiet and was a commanding aerial presence when Rory Delap's long throws came into the Albion box.
An energetic display from the holding midfielder. Mulumbu protected his back four well and popped up in attacking positions from time to time. Fired over from distance early in the game. Kept West Brem ticking brilliantly, starting almost every Baggies attack with his simple but effective passes. Substituted with ten minutes left as the Baggies looked for more attacking options.
Hardly noticed him in a game that by-passed the midfield. Was outshone by Mulumbu but did not put a foot wrong all game. Kept his passes simple and didn't allow Stoke time on the ball. A solid performance.
Playing in the hole just behind Odemwingie, Morrison was given far too much space by Stoke. The Scottish midfield received plenty of the ball and always looked to turn and face the Stoke goal. Was prone to a few lapses in concentration with his passing but more than made up for it with his skill and trickery. Replaced by Cox after 55minutes.
Given his chance due to Chris Brunt's injury, Barnes looked like a player desperate to stake his claim in the Baggies starting XI. The wingers pace and trickery caused Collins problems and the former Derby winger tracked back excellently to help Jara with the threat posed by Etherington. Looked tired in the second half and was replaced with 25 minutes to play.
A lively display from the lone striker. Up against a giant Stoke defence, the Nigerian battled well and his intelligent running into the channels always gave the Baggies an outlet.
Was rarely troubled by West Brom but did what he had to do well. Made several comfortable saves and tipped a few powerful shots over his crossbar - but no challenging saves for the 'keeper to make.
Far too slow to deal with Barnes. The winger flew past him far too many times - with his trickery tieing the left-back in knots.
A solid display from the centre-half. Looked commanding alonside Shawcross and dealt with several dangerous crosses - one one occasion getting a crucial flick to prevent a certain Albion goal.
Faired better than Collins against Albion's other speedy winger. Looked vulnerable to Thomas' pace but got a lot tighter to the winger - rarely allowing him time to turn.
The Stoke captain dealt with aerial balls superbly and battled well with Odemwingie - not allowing the striker to beat him in a one-on-one situation. Looked slightly nervous in possession, preferring aimless long balls when a simple pass was on.
Struggled against the impressive Jara. The left winger didn't seem to be able to beat the right-back with as much ease as he often shows. Unusually for Etherington, his final ball was also poor, with many of his crosses failing to find the target of Jones or Fuller. Showed his quality by tucking his penalty away well, finding the side netting and giving Carson no chance. Replaced with ten minutes to play.
Offered little other than his long throws - that were dealt with effectively by West Brom. A box-to-box display from the midfielder without doing much else. Like Whitehead, much of Stoke's play by-passed Delap but the midfielder rarely gave the ball away on the few occasions he had possession. Struggled to deal with Morrison's movement behind him - allowing the Scotsman far too much room.
Not given enough of the ball by Stoke's defence, who preferred to play long balls to Jones rather than simple passes to Whitehead. Showed glimpses of his talent with some good crossfield balls. Made a good run from deep that led to the second penalty.
Looked lively in the opening minutes but limped off after just ten minutes. Looked like the on loan winger had a hamstring problem.
Without many flick-ons from his partner to chase, Fuller struggled to get into the game in the first half. Looked dangerous with the ball at his feet and capable of beating his marker on more than one occasion. Lacked support from midfield and was often out-crowded by two Albion defenders. Replaced in the final ten minutes as Stoke looked to hold on to their lead.
Didn't look his usual self, the frontman misplaced a few simple passes and struggled to dominate Tamas and Ibanez at the heart of the Baggies defence. Involved in the games moment of controversy. Looked to make the most of any contact from Baggies keeper Carson - but the penalty was awarded.
- 13 G. Myhill
- 20 N. Shorey
- 12 S. Reid
Replaced Barnes with 25 minutes to play. The big Cameroonian did well on the right flank and his aerial presence caused problems. Failed to hit the target with two headers, but beat Collins as easily as Barnes had before him.
Played the final ten minutes of the game as Albion looked for a creative spark. Was unable to do so as Stoke ended the stronger team.
Replaced Morrison with 35 minutes remaining as the Baggies looked to get back in the game. Struggled to get on the ball and was guilty of giving away the second penalty that effectively ended West Broms hopes of getting any points.
- 28 M. Fortuné
- 29 T. Sørensen
- 3 D. Higginbotham
Replaced Fuller as Pulis looked to hold on to his 1-0 lead.
Replaced Pennant after just ten minutes. Struggled to get into the game but was not given enough of the ball by his team mates. Showed glimpses of his ability - notably when his reverse pass led to the second penalty - but was failed to get the upper hand over Cech.
- 6 G. Whelan
- 7 E. Guðjohnsen
Brought on with ten minutes remaining. Did not see much of the ball but made no mistake in slotting the ball home from the spot for Stoke's second penalty of the game. Wrapped up the points in injury-time with Stoke's third - the substitute showed he knows where the net is.
