The keeper claimed a number of crosses into the area extremely well, limiting Bayern's effectiveness out wide. He also produced a few good stops from Alaba and Ribery either side of the break.
At times he was slow to react but for much of the game he stayed compact and helped ensure his side kept Bayern at bay. In the second half his positioning improved greatly.
The big center back read the game well and regularly put himself into the right place at the right time. He made a fantastic goal-line clearance from Lahm's effort but completely lost Mandzukic on the opener.
Was beaten time and again by Gotze as he played slightly out of position at left back. He could not get close to the Germany international and his lack of pace was regularly exposed in the wide areas.
Helped his team defend stoutly for much of the game. Although he did not see an awful lot of the ball, he continued to run his socks off to help his team stay tight in the back.
Was keen to attack from right back and instantly gave the crowd a lift with his attacking intent. He combined with Petrzela well but was at times caught out of position when Bayern countered.
Dropped in to help out defensively but also looked to orchestrate the counterattack when his team got in possession. He played some decent passes and was extremely combative in the middle.
Had plenty of energy in the wide areas but rarely seemed wholly convincing with the ball at his feet. He provided a number of crosses into the box that should have been converted.
Struggled to get involved in the game early on and sent his team's best chance of the first half over the bar. He was eager to receive the ball on the counterattack and brought his teammates in on the action.
The striker did not receive an awful lot of service but he worked extremely hard for his side. He got into some dangerous areas and forced a good save from Neuer late on.
Worked hard wide on the left and continually got up and down the flank to help his team at both ends. He got a decent shot off early that forced Neuer into a save.
The Germany international dealt with everything that was thrown at him, though he was never truly stretched. He judged when to come off his line extremely well and commanded his box.
Picked the ball up from the defense and looked to drive his team forward from deep. He passed the ball well and acted as a pivot in the middle of the park. He supplied a great assist for Mandzukic's header.
Played out of position at center back and almost immediately conceded a penalty for a clumsy challenge on Tecl. He left too much space in the channel with Alaba and looked vulnerable to the break.
D. Van Buyten
Had a fairly solid evening in the center of defense, performing admirably in the air and organizing the back line to good effect. He was not stretched by the opposition forwards and was extremely calm throughout.
Pushed on well, regularly getting into dangerous areas. Too many of his deliveries went into the hands of the keeper, but he did force Kozacik into a couple of saves with two decent first-half efforts.
Supported Gotze down the right to good effect and picked his moments to get forward well. He put a few crosses into the box but was unable to pick out a teammate consistently enough.
Always made himself available in midfield and displayed his impressive array of passing. He was calm and assured in possession but his shooting was not up to his usual high standards.
Operated from the right and had the better of Hubnik all night, but he failed to take full advantage. Had he seen more of the ball he could have made all the difference to his side's attempts to break the deadlock.
Distributed the ball well in midfield and supported Muller consistently. He timed his runs into the area well and saw a decent effort come back off the post early in the first half.
Looked threatening with the ball at his feet but drifted inside and found himself surrounded by opponents all too often. He was unable to carve a way through the opposing defense and failed to finish a great chance in the second half.
Showed intelligent movement in the final third as the lone striker and could always be found lurking in dangerous areas. However, he was not picked out by his teammates often enough to worry the defense.
