A. Costa 52'
Real Madrid win Aggregate 3 - 1
K. Benzema 44'
Full time in the Mestalla. Nine-man Real Madrid progress to the semi-final of the Copa del Rey with a 3-1 aggregate victory over Valencia. Karim Benzema opened the scoring in the first half but Los Blancos were pegged back by a Tino Costa strike. Fabio Coentrao and Angel Di Maria both received their marching orders but Jose Mourinho's men remained solid to ensure progression to the next round. I'm Martin Macdonald, thank you for joining us on Goal.com! See you next time!
90' + 2'
Yellow Card Luka Modric
90' + 2'
Yellow Card Ever Banega
90' + 1'
A scrappy end to the game here. Yellow cards all round! Banega is the latest to go into the book.
This is just getting silly now. Luka Modric is shown a booking for barely even brushing by Joao Pereira on the right-hand side. The referee is losing it.
Red Card Ángel Di María
Angel Di Maria is sent off! Madrid are down to nine men!! The Argentine kicks out at Joao Pereira and is given a straight red! That was absolutely idiotic! His team are comfortably through and now he will miss the next round. Daft.
Wasteful from Tino Costa. Banega busts a gut to tackle Di Maria and retain possession before sliding the ball inside for his team-mate. However, the Argentine balloons a shot over the bar from 25 yards. That was never bothering Adan.
The Valencia fans continue to sing and cheer for their side, very refreshing to see. Valverde's men must aim to shake of this trilogy of matches against Real Madrid as quickly as possible.
Another headed chance goes begging for Valencia. Costa whips the ball in and, once again, it is met by Nelson Valdez. However, the Paraguayan heads the ball directly to the chest of Adan in the Madrid goal.
Yellow Card Ricardo Costa
Ricardo Costa is the latest player to enter the book. Ronaldo darted through the centre circle in an attempt to shake off his man but was body checked by his compatriot.
The window of opportunity for Valencia to set-up a grandstand finish is deteriorating rapidly. It was always going to be a hard task, but the belief was there after they scored their goal.
Cheap free kick given away by Piatti. Di Maria was in a sticky situation down at his own corner flag but goes down after the slightest of touches from the Valencia substitute. You really do wonder how Di Maria even stands up sometimes.
Jose Mourinho makes another defensive change as Luka Modric comes on for the Real Madrid goalscorer, Benzema.
Every Madrid player, even Cristiano Ronaldo, is behind the ball at the moment. Banega is seeing more of the ball than any other player on the park but the Argentine is starved for options whenever he moves ahead.
Madrid counterattack again! Benzema powerfully stretches his legs through the middle of the park and shifts the ball inside to Khedira. However, the German's touch is just too heavy and Valencia clean up. This is end-to-end stuff here!
Yellow Card Nacho Fernández
Valverde makes his last play. Sergio Canales comes on for Jonas. The Brazilian has been fairly bright this evening so that is an off change from the Valencia boss. The former Real Madrid youngster enters the action.
The Mestalla crowd can sense something brewing here. Fair play to them, they are doing all they can to get behind their team! A goal in the next couple of minutes from Valencia sets up a pretty nervy finish for Madrid.
Yellow Card Cristiano Ronaldo
Inches away by Tino Costa! The Argentina has a crack from just outside the box and the ball goes agonizingly wide of the left-hand post! Adan was beaten!
If Valencia had showed some if this passion in the league game on Sunday they might not have been beaten so badly. There is still time for goals here. It is highly unlikely, but certainly not impossible!
Miss-queue from Jonas. The Brazilian found a pocket of space 25 yards from goals and attempts a shot from range but the attempt whizzes 5 or 10 yards wide of goal. Madrid looking formidable as a defensive wall at the moment.
All Valencia at the moment. Madrid are camped inside their own box and the hosts are playing the ball around the penalty area looking for an opening. Banega the orchestrator.
Positive change from Ernesto Valverde. Victor Ruiz comes off to be replaced by Pablo Piatti. The Argentine receives a rapturous applause as he enters the fray.
Mourinho is furious on the touchline! Benzema breaks out from his own half and looks to send Di Maria down the right-hand side but the pass is terribly over-hit!
Jose Mourinho responds swiftly to the events of the past couple of minutes. Mesut Ozil comes off for defender, Nacho. Madrid looking to shut up shop?
Goal Tino Costa
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAL FOR VALENCIA!!! A glimmer of hope for the hosts! Tino Costa smashes the free kick in from the right and the ball evades everyone and goes under Antonio Adan! 1-1!
Yellow/Red Fabio Coentrao
Fabio Coentrao is sent off for Real Madrid! The Portuguse left-back is given a second yellow card for a deliberate handball!
Great save again by Guaita! Di Maria counterattacks at blistering pace down the right-hand side and quickly cuts inside before curling a strike towards the bottom corner but the Valencia 'keeper palms the ball to safety!
A change to report for you at the break. Ever Banega has been introduced in place of Andres Guardado for Valencia.
We are back under way at the Mestalla!
Half time in the Mestalla. Valencia matched Real Madrid for the majority of the first half but Karim Benzema provided a hammer blow to their chances when he slotted hom in the closing stages of the first half. A momentous task awaits Ernesto Valverde's men in the second period. Join us in a few ticks for the second 45 minutes!
45' + 4'
Yellow Card Tino Costa
45' + 2'
Valencia now need to score four goals and hope that Real Madrid don't score again. I'm no psychic, but I can't really see that happening!
45' + 1'
Yellow Card Fabio Coentrao
45' + 1'
Jonas with the header!! Tino Costa whips in a cracking delivery from the right and the Brazilian directs a header towards goal but again the attempt goes straight into the chest of Antonio Adan!
Second yellow in the space of five minutes for Valencia. Ronaldo looks to exchange a one-two with Benzema on the edge of the area but is checked by Joao Pereira. Again, probably deserved.
Assist Xabi Alonso
Goal Karim Benzema
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAL FOR REAL MADRID!! This could be a killer blow to Valencia! The visitors take a quick throw-in and Xabi Alonso fizzes a pass into the feet of Benzema. The Frenchman takes the ball into his stride inside the box and slots into the bottom left corner! Horrendous defending from Ricardo Costa! He completely missed his clearance on the edge of the area!
Yellow Card João Pereira
As long as Madrid don't score another then Valencia are still very much in this tie. They need to score before half-time or shortly after the break if they are to claw back the aggregate scoreline, though.
Yellow Card Víctor Ruiz
First booking of the match goes to Victor Ruiz. Ronaldo runs at pace through the middle but is very cynically brought down by the 23-year-old. Deserved yellow card.
Save from Guaita!! Di Maria looks to atone for his error and lashes a 25-yard strike towards the top bag but the Valencia 'keeper manages to tip the attempt over the bar!
Di Maria breaks down a counterattack! Madrid break at pace from the Valencia corner and the Argentine powers through the middle. However, he wastes far too much time on the ball and allows Victor Ruiz to make the tackle.
VALDEZ!!! The Paraguayan makes space inside the box and smashes a left-footed strike towards goal but Arbeloa makes an important block inside the six-yard-box! Valencia corner!
Good defending from Pereira. Ronaldo slides a pass into the feet of Benzema in the inside left channel and the Frenchman attempts to use some trickery to get into the box but the right-back stands tall and makes an important interception.
It has certainly been a midfield battle so far. The likes of Benzema, Di Maria, Jonas, Jonathan Viera; we haven't seen too much of them at all.
Save from Adan!! Guardado whips in another superb free kick from the wing and Valdez meets it with a bullet header! Lucky for the Madrid goalkeeper, it was straight down his throat. Either side and that was 1-0 Valencia.
Naughty from Victor Ruiz! Di Maria goes down and the Valencia man gives him a sly stamp on the top of the ankle. The referee doesn't seem to bat an eyelid. Perhaps the Argentine's reputation has proceeded him on this occasion?
This is more like it! Valencia looking dangerous. Much like Madrid did on Sunday, Valencia are utilising the flanks. Joao Pereira and Cissokho are galloping down the wings almost at will.
The tempo has dropped slightly since the departure of Casillas. Valencia should be upping their game to heap some pressure on Antonio Adan. The Madrid sub is bound to be feeling nervy!
Quite a distinct lack of goalscoring chances so far. The only close attempt we have seen has been Ronaldo's shot that was expertly saved by Guaita. Both sides cancelling each other out.
Adan is called into action straight away! A free kick is whipped in from the left-hand side and the substitute comes out and gets the ball to safety with a diving punch. Valencia collect possession again.
It really was a completely bizarre injury. Arbeloa did kick Casillas very forcefully on the top of the fingers and it looked a sore one.
He won't be able to continue. The Real Madrid goalkeeper saga takes another twist as Antonio Adan comes on to replace Casillas.
There is a break in play at the moment as Casillas is down injured. In the aftermath of that scramble inside the box, the Madrid goalkeeper was accidentally volleyed on the hand by his own team-mate, Alvaro Arbeloa.
Iker Casillas is a lucky man! The Madrid 'keeper comes to claim a ball out of the air but completely messes up his catch. There is a scramble inside the penalty area but the referee blows for a foul by Cissokho! There was nothing in that whatsoever!
Good defending from Victor Ruiz. Adil Rami loses possession in a terrible position in the middle of midfield and Madrid counterattack at pace. Ronaldo looks to cross into the centre but the Valencia man makes the block, allowing Guaita to come out and claim the ball.
Close for Madrid!! Arbeloa runs down the right on the overlap and curls a teasing cross along the six-yard-box, but there are no takers at the back post for the visitors! That was begging to be put home!
Great save from Guaita!! Xab Alonso slides a wonderful defence-splitting pass through the middle for Ronaldo who bears down on goal. The Portuguese smashes a left-footed strike towards the front post but the Valencia goalkeeper palms the ball away!
A boost for Valencia tonight is the return of conventional full-backs to their first XI. Ricardo Costa and Andres Guardado took up the positions at the weekend but were dreadfully exposed on the wings. Aly Cissokho and Joao Pereira return this evening.
Much, much better from Valencia. They already look much more up for this match than they did against Los Blancos in Spanish Primera Division match on Sunday. They need to keep the tempo up for as long as they possibly can.
The corner is whipped in from the left-hand side and fortuitously evades everyone inside the penalty area before bouncing behind at the back post. Madrid let off the hook slightly.
Valencia start the match bright. The hosts get a free kick 30 yards from goal and Tino Costa lashes a rasper of a strike towards the top corner but it deflects off Ronaldo for the first corner kick of the game.
The loss of Roberto Soldado is massive for Valencia. The talisman of the Mestalla side picked up a thigh injury last week. Nelson Valdez leads the line for the hosts tonight.
We are under way at the Mestalla!
Valencia's 5-0 loss to Real Madrid on Sunday was their biggest-ever home defeat in La Liga. Surely the hosts will be out for some revenge tonight!
Real Madrid (4-2-3-1): Casillas; Arbeloa, Varane, Albiol, Coentrao; Xabi Alonso, Khedira; Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo; Benzema
Valencia (4-2-3-1): Guaita; Joao Pereira, Rami, Ricardo Costa, Cissokho; V. Ruiz, Tino Costa; Viera, Jonas, Guardado; Valdez
THE TEAMS ARE IN.
Real Madrid are probably the last team that Ernesto Valverde's men would want to face tonight. The capital club traveled to the Mestalla on Sunday evening and demolished Valencia in a comprehensive 5-0 victory.
I'm Martin Macdonald, and I'll be taking you through the action this evening!
Don't worry, you're not experiencing Deja Vu! Valencia take on Real Madrid once again in the third installment in their trilogy of matches. Los Blancos take a relatively comfortable 2-0 lead into this match thanks to a strike from Karim Benzema and an own goal from Andres Guardado in the previous leg.
