  • 90' + 4'
That's it! The U.S. falls 1-0 to Costa Rica on a second half Rodney Wallace goal, not a great showing from Jurgen Klinsmann's side, in really the last 50 minutes of the game. It is a friendly, and there is plenty of time to fix the mistakes, but there were quite a few.
  • 90' + 2'
    Yellow Card J. Acosta
  • 90' + 1'
Foul on Agudelo and dangerously positioned free kick for the U.S.
  • 90'
Four minutes stoppage time for the U.S. to find an equalizer.

    SubstitutionC. Johnson J. Salvatierra
  • 84'
Agudelo with some incredible skill as he beats a few men in the box, but is denied as Navas comes well off his line to block and then prevent it from going behind for a corner.

    Yellow Card Sacha Kljestan
  • 78'
    Yellow Card Brek Shea
  • 78'
An innocuous enough looking play has turned into a scuffle as Brek Shea appeared to be muscled off the ball, but Shea reaccts and is shown a yellow, and the players come together. Another yellow shown to Kljestan as play is about to restart in the middle. The U.S. seems to be losing its cool a bit here.
  • 75'
The crowd roars for penalty as Agudelo appears to be impeded by a Costa Rica player on the ground, but the players don't react too much and play goes on.
  • 73'
    Yellow Card R. Miller
  • 73'
Safe to say, the U.S. has just not been as sharp this half. Still getting the better of possession, but more careless both with and without the ball.
  • 71'
Jose Torres with an absolute belter from well outside the area that Navas barely tips away.

    Goal Rodney Wallace
  • 65'
GOAL Costa Rica! Saborio breaks the offside trap and centers to Azofeifa, whose shot is miraculously stopped by Howard, but the rebound is headed in by Rodney Wallace, who gets his first goal just four minutes into his international debut.
  • 62'
    SubstitutionJozy Altidore J. Agudelo
  • 61'
    SubstitutionR. Brenes Rodney Wallace
  • 61'
Portland Timbers' Rodney Wallace enters the game for Randall Brenes, his first ever cap for Costa Rica.
  • 59'
A break down in the U.S. defense allows Rnadall Brenes a header, but it's straight into his own teammate, Saborio. The follow up was straight at the grateful Tim Howard.
  • 58'
    Yellow Card Landon Donovan
  • 58'
Hilarious yellow to Donovan, who appeared to cradle the ball with two hands.
  • 55'
Robbie Rogers has the ball in the back of the net, but Jozy Altidore, the setup man, was correctly called for offside.
  • 53'
Again, we're seeing U.S. players, especially Shea get into good positions on the flanks, only for their cross to find the head of a Costa Rica defender. As I type this, Edgar Castillo absolutely shanks a cross into the stands behind the goal after another nice setup play.
  • 46'
    Substitution Josué Martínez D. Colindres
  • 46'
Second half underway here in California! Josue Martinez replaced by Daniel Colindres for Costa Rica, no changes for the U.S.
  • It's been a lively first half, with some positive signs from the U.S. but the team can't complement its penetration up the flanks with accurate crossing. Other than Donovan's early missed opportunity, the U.S hasn't created too many clear cut chances despite dominating the match, save the final five minutes, when Costa Rica was in the ascendancy.
  • 45' + 2'
Howard didn't have to make a save all match, but he now makes to stops to keep the Ticos out in stoppage time to keep the score at 0-0 entering the half.
  • 45'
Altidore with some excellent hold-up play to spark a counter as he finds Donovan, but the captain's ball in can't find Altidore.
  • 40'
Pardon, that was Edu, not Altidore with the hard tackle. Didn't look pretty, but Johnson is up and running just fine.
  • 38'
Altidore is whistled for a hard tackle on Costa Rica's Carlos Johnson, who is down for a while.
  • 36'
Other than Saborio's chance that was chalked off, Costa RIca has touched the ball very few times in the U.S. half.
  • 29'
    Yellow Card Josué Martínez
  • 29'
First yellow off the match to Costa Rica's Josue Martinez for tripping up Edgar Castillo. Free kick 30 yards out, but to no avail.
  • 27'
The USA with some quick interplay down the right wing as Donovan feeds on the ground to Altidore, but the first touch is too heavy, allowing Navas to collect.
  • 23'
Curling free kick taken by Donovan about 30 yards out, but it lands on top of the net.
  • 19'
Alvaro Saborio has Costa Rica's first chance well tipped away by Tim Howard...but he's offside.
  • 18'
The U.S. has taken most, if not all of its free kicks quickly, but the Costa Ricans are starting to catch on.
  • 15'
The U.S. has been penetrating well down the wings, but the crossing has been subpar, for the most part.
  • 13'
Timmy Chandler earns the first corner of the game for either side.
  • 7'
Break Shea, who has been electric so far, this time finds Altidore, who controls with his chest, but puts a more difficult chance than Donovan's into the side netting.
  • 6'
So close Landon Donovan! Break Shea plays an excellent give and go with Altidore and lays it off to Donovan, but the USA captain somehow contrives to roll it in inch wide while wide open.
  • 4'
Shea played through, whistled for a very tight offside. Looks a positive start from the USA in the opening.
  • 2'
Alvaro Saborio scored at this stadium just last week with Real Salt Lake. Can he do it again?
  • 1'
We're underway here at the Home Depot Center.
  • As you may have guessed, the start time has been pushed back to 11:20p.m. EDT. The teams are out on pitch now, and we are minutes away from kickoff.
  • Greetings from the Home Depot Center! It's a breezy night here in Los Angeles as both teams take to the field for warmups. Kickoff in just over 20 minutes.
