Jermain Defoe, Bradley Orr and Luke Moore got their names on the score sheet as Toronto nabbed its fourth win of the season.Jermain Defoe was included as an alternate on England's World Cup side but continued to prove his importance to Toronto FC in the club's 2-0 win against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday.
Countryman Bradley Orr took advantage of a Dax McCarty giveaway in midfield and played a long through ball to Defoe in the 12th minute. The former Tottenham man took a touch and blasted a right-footed shot past Red Bulls keeper Luis Robles. It's the fourth goal of the season for the winter signee.
Another Englishman nearly brought things level in the 62nd minute when MLS leading scorer Bradley Wright-Phillips blasted a shot high and wide in a situation when it looked as though it would've been far easier to score.
And yet another England native capped things off in stoppage time. New acquisition Luke Moore was gifted with a tap-in as New York pushed men forward in an attempt to find an equalizer.
The result moves Toronto FC to 4-4-0 on the year while New York falls to 3-4-5.
