The Red Bulls' Australian Designated Player stepped up with a late header to condemn Toronto FC to a home defeatTim Cahill scored on either side of the half as the New York Red Bulls picked up a late 2-1 win over Toronto FC at BMO Field.
The Red Bulls got the scoring underway just before halftime. Roy Miller beat his man and squared a ball across the box, which Thierry Henry cleverly dummied for Cahill. The Australian stroked his shot home with his first touch for his first goal of the season.
The home side evened the match late after an error by Luis Robles. The Red Bulls goalkeeper unnecessarily strayed well off his line on a long free kick, missing the ball, which fell to substitute Jonathan Osorio. With Robles out of his net, the young Canadian brilliantly clipped a shot in off the underside of the bar from outside of the box.
However, once again TFC would concede late. Henry played in an inviting chipped cross and Cahill rose well above Ashtone Morgan to crash an emphatic header home, ensuring the Red Bulls would head back south of the border with all three points.
