Ahead of a sequence of tough fixtures, the Swans look to end a five-match run without success against Roberto Martinez's side, who have also failed to pick up a win in five games.

Swansea is without regular left back Neil Taylor (ankle) through long-term injury. 19-year-old Ben Davies is set to continue in his place having done so for Wales over the international break, with newly signed Dwight Tiendalli another option.

Center back Kyle Bartley (thigh) is also out with a long-term issue that might not see him return until 2013.

Roberto Martinez saw many of his players go away on international duty but has suffered no casualties, although he is still without Antolin Alcaraz (groin), so Maynor Figueroa is set to continue as part of a three-man back line, with Jean Beausejour at left wing back.

Playmaker Shaun Maloney is likely to start alongside striking duo Franco Di Santo and Arouna Kone, while Jordi Gomez could feature at some point. Midfielder Fraser Fyvie (ankle) is doubtful.

  • Michu has scored five goals from just seven shots on target this season.
  • All 12 of Swansea’s goals this season have come from open play.
  • The Latics have kept just two clean sheets in their last 21 Premier League matches on the road, and have conceded four penalties in seven games, more than any other top flight club this season.

  • Roberto Martinez won promotion to League One with Swansea as a player in 2005 and then promotion to the Championship as manager in 2008, before returning to manage the Latics, where he had began his career in English football.
  • Midfielder Jordi Gomez spent a season on loan from Espanyol at Swansea under Martinez, before following him to Wigan on a permanent transfer in 2009.
