Although absentees Kenwyne Jones and Wilson Palacios have returned to training Stoke City manager Tony Pulis is expected to resist the urge to start the pair. Winger Matthew Etherington is likely to be on the team-sheet after he recovered from the dead leg that saw him miss the 2-0 defeat to Swansea City last time out. But midfielder Salif Diao is still out with a fractured cheekbone.

Fulham boss Martin Jol's plans have been hit by a series of injuries during the international break. A knee injury has put Bryan Ruiz's involvement on hold, while thigh and ankle knocks have ruled out Swiss pair Philippe Senderos and Kerim Frei.

Long-term absentee Simon Davies also remains sidelined with a knee injury. But in better news, Aaron Hughes has recovered from the groin strain that ruled him out of going on international duty for Northern Ireland.
