Sporting extended its club-record unbeaten run to 14 matches with an impressive 2-0 win over Salt Lake. Espinoza and Bunbury scored the goals.Sporting Kansas City kept its string of records intact (never beaten in LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, without a loss for a club record 14 straight matches) with a 2-0 win over the visiting Real Salt Lake.
For the Utah club, the score mirrors its loss to the Columbus Crew just four days ago.
Talk within the Sporting camp has focused on getting off to faster starts, and it did just that. Both Roger Espinoza and Omar Bravo spurned headed chances in the box within the first 10 minutes. And Espinoza made the breakthrough 30 minutes into the match when he sliced between two markers and drilled a near-post shot past Nick Rimando.
A few minutes later Teal Bunbury doubled the lead. RSL's starting keeper Nick Rimando pawed away Kei Kamara's downward header, but Bunbury cleaned up the scraps to double his side's lead.
In the second half, Espinoza was sent off for a scissor tackle from behind on Kyle Beckerman, but Sporting held strong through RSL's late spate of chances to secure the win.
