The Revs got rolled in LIVESTRONG Sporting Park with Kansas City jigging to a 3-0 St. Paddy's Day rout.Welcome to MLS, Jay Heaps. The rookie New England Revolution coach was handed a second straight loss, this one by a three-goal margin to the rampant Sporting Kansas City.
Stephen McCarthy was ejected a quarter of an hour into the match to give the Revs what turned out to be an insurmountable disadvantage. Shalrie Joseph moved back into defense to cover, but there was no stopping KC.
Graham Zusi opened the scoring. A cross from the left spilled out to Kei Kamara on the far side of the box. Kamara slid the ball back towards net and Zusi held off Joseph to scramble the ball home from on his backside.
Kamara doubled the lead before half. Former Rev Seth Sinovic crossed from the end line and, despite a double save from Matt Reis, Kamara eventually pushed the ball into the goal. C.J. Sapong and Kamara celebrated in St. Patrick's Day fashion with green hats and a tidy jig.
Sapong finished up the scoring early in the half. Again Sinovic sliced to the end line. This time his tight cutback stranded the retreating Revolution defenders and Sapong was left with a tap-in. Sapong's acrobatic back flip was probably more impressive than the finish.
