New England crumbled in the end and Sporting Kansas City walked away with a draw after late heroics, stretching its unbeaten run to 13.Sporting Kansas City walked out with a 1-1 draw after being down for much of its match against the New England Revolution on Saturday night thanks to some late heroics from Teal Bunbury.
The promising young striker knocked home the equalizer in the 89th minute, with his team holding a man advantage but still down a goal after Rajko Lekic had given the visitors a lead late in the first half.
Some poor defending opened up the space for Lekic in the 38th after a ball from goalkeeper Matt Reis was misjudged and fell to the striker, leaving just enough time for him to collect and put it away before Sporting's defenders could recover.
The match took a turn for the home side in the 82nd with A.J. Soares was shown a red card for fouling as the last defender, and Sporting fully capitalized. Bunbury's goal came after Omar Bravo pushed it into his path, giving the striker a chance he took well, winning the home side a point.
