Despite the host creating most of the chances, the Houston Dynamo stood firm and walked away from Livestrong Sporting Park with a point.Despite a suspect away record coming into this game, the Houston Dynamo held firm in one of the most partisan grounds in MLS and came away from Livestrong Sporting Park with a scoreless draw, becoming just the third side to take points from Sporting Kansas City's home ground.
In the sweltering 120 degree heat, the Texan side started with the more promising of the chances. Will Bruin and Oscar Boniek Garcia both had shots stopped in the opening quarter hour.
The hosts eventually rallied, though, and Jacob Petersen, preferred to U.S. international Teal Bunbury, impressed, showing some skills and having the best chance of the game when his low shot beat Tally Hall only to smack off the post.
Kei Kamara brought two saves out of Hall and CJ Sapong shot wide as Sporting outshot the Dynamo 17-7, but they were unable to find a goal, with the Houston defense pulling off a number of heroic stops.
The draw is a frustrating result for Kansas City, as a win would have put the club on top of the Eastern Conference.
