Conor Casey notched his fifth goal in six appearances to earn the traveling Rapids a point in Kansas City.Sporting extended its unbeaten streak to nine matches with a draw to MLS Cup holder Colorado. The streak is a team record and the second-best in MLS this season.
The Rapids became only the second team to breach Kansas City in LIVESTRONG Sporting Park when Conor Casey scored his fifth goal in six appearances. The powerful striker chested down a long ball from Tyrone Marshall before spinning and slamming a shot into the corner from outside the box after half an hour.
The host responded on the hour mark. C.J. Sapong drove towards goal and drilled a low shot which Matt Pickens saved. Graham Zusi followed the play and easily tapped the ball into the net for the equalizer.
Despite a series of KC chances, including a couple off the post, the game ended in a draw.
