A series of long-range free kicks undid Chivas USA as the hosting San Jose sniped its way to a 4-0 win.
Victor Bernardez absolutely crushed a free kick from 35 yards out around the wall and past the grasping glove of Dan Kennedy to open the scoring early in the match.
Before halftime, Chris Wondolowski pushed the ball through the center of the collapsing Chivas USA defense. Simon Dawkins took a touch to steady himself and then scooped the ball past Kennedy.
Kennedy submitted a fine performance despite losing so heavily, including an astounding save on Marvin Chavez to push the ball around the post when he was diving the wrong way. The 30-year-old couldn't keep San Jose at bay for long, though.
The third also came via a long-range free kick, this time with Ramiro Corrales stepping forward and thwacking the ball over the wall and inside the near post. Then, on another free kick, with Kennedy still setting his wall, Corrales cheekily snuck in a fourth.
