Proved to be a real headache for Ivanovic down Shakhtar’s left as he came forward on numerous occasions and showcased some delightful passes.
Was solid in the center of defense and could have scored a goal of his own with a shot that was parried away by Petr Cech in the first half. Booked for clever foul on Hazard.

Absolutely superb in the middle of the park, showing some superb movement and a full array of passes. Deserved his goal in the second half, which was a well taken finish placed calmly past Cech.

Made a poor tackle that led to the home side’s first goal and looked lost defensively, almost gifting Shakhtar a goal on a few occasions.
Made his return to the side as captain and was partly to blame for Shakhtar’s first goal while also being dominated by Luiz Adriano in particular.

Struggled to cope with the Shakhtar midfield, and often left Ramires hopelessly exposed against the onslaught from the home side's attacking players.
Another industrious performance, but he struggled to keep Shakhtar’s attacking players at bay and could not make any telling contributions with the ball at his feet.
Shackled by Hubschman throughout and struggled to find any rhythm in his passing as the Ukrainians kept him very quiet, but swept home a consolation goal for the away side late in the game.
