Álvaro Negredo, Diego Perotti and Frédéric Kanouté were all on the scoresheet as Sevilla powered past a poor Los Colchoneros side.Sevilla were in top form as a stunning first half strike from Álvaro Negredo set the Rojiblancos on their way before Diego Perotti and Frédéric Kanouté heaped more misery onto a lackluster Atlético Madrid side, who did grab a consolation from Diego Costa but could not match a dominant Sevilla side.
The home team took control of the match from the offing with Alvaro Negredo smashing a shot straight into the post early in the first half, followed closely by Martin Caceres who had a header go very close indeed and then Diego Perotti was sent through on goal but took too much time on the ball allowing Antonio López to get in a great tackle.
Sevilla did make the break through after half an hour from a Negredo stunner, the ball was played through by Perotti for the striker to unleash a wonderful curing shot into the top left corner.
Then just over five minutes later the Rojiblancos made it two, this time Perotti was the scorer as he latched onto a Frederic Kanoute rebound, volleying the ball in off Luis Perea's back.
Chance after chance was being created by the home side with both scorers again going close to increasing Sevilla's lead. Atletico looked stunned in comparison and failed to make any significant contribution to a half dominated by Gregorio Manzano's side.
The second half started in much the same way as the first ended, with a Sevilla goal. Kanoute was the man who got this one after superb work down the right from Perotti as he skipped past two defenders before crossing to Negredo who then flicked the ball onto the Malian who fired low into the corner.
Atletico though clawed one back on the hour through Diego Costa. Sevilla had themselves to blame for this one as Caceres let a cross go by him into the path of Costa who rounded Andres Palop before slotting home.
This provided some hope for Los Colchoneros as they piled forward looking to get back into the game but in the end they could not find another way past Palop and Sevilla took all three points.
The result sends Sevilla up to fifth in La Liga ahead of Atletico who have now dropped to sixth following the defeat.
