  • And that's it! Toronto holds on for the 2-1 win. It's the first Toronto win at Seattle in MLS history.

    SubstitutionJackson Ashtone Morgan
  • 90' + 1'
We're into 3 minutes of added time.
  • 87'
Free kick to Seattle from 35 yards out. Well defended by TFC.
  • 83'
    Yellow Card Julio César
  • 81'
Ten minutes to go. Will the score hold?
  • 79'
    SubstitutionLamar Neagle Chad Barrett
  • 78'
    Yellow Card Justin Morrow
  • 76'
Seattle's buzzing now, the goal has definitely lifted them. Could another goal be in the cards?
  • 73'
Martins is playing a lot more on the right wing, which TFC is having problems with.
  • 70'
    Yellow Card Osvaldo Alonso
  • 68'
    Goal Clint Dempsey
  • 68'
DEMPSEY GETS ON THE BOARD! Seattle forces a turnover in their own half, and the ball eventually finds a streaking Dempsey who smashes home. We've got a game now.
  • 65'
    SubstitutionÁlvaro Rey Bradley Orr
  • 63'
    SubstitutionM. Pappa Kenny Cooper
  • 63'
    SubstitutionDwayne De Rosario Andrew Wiedeman
  • 63'
    Yellow Card Álvaro Rey
Rey takes out Yedlin HARD, and he rightfully gets a yellow card for it.
  • 60'
BIG BLOCK CALDWELL! Martins gets into the TFC area thanks to a nice Dempsey back heel, and it looks like he has the entire net to shoot at. The Toronto captain throws himself into the path of Martins' point-blank shot, nullifying the danger.
  • 59'
Rey is down at the centre of the pitch, and when he gets up he's not too happy about the contact from Dempsey.
  • 53'
BIG SAVE BY JULIO CESAR! Martins gets the ball in the Toronto area, and turns to shoot. His close range effort is palmed away by the Brazilian, who got down quickly to deny the chance.
  • 48'
Neagle and Bloom get tangled in the TFC area, with both men going down. The ref calls it in favour of Toronto.
  • 46'
And we're back! What can Seattle do to claw back into this match?
  • I'm going to take a bit of a break. Back in the second half!
  • The game got chippier as the half progressed, with Dempsey looking the most frustrated with the physicality on display. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some cards in the second half.
  • And that's the half! What a dream start for Jermain Defoe and Toronto FC in Seattle.
  • 42'
The fouls are building up now, with both teams guilty. It could end up a chippy affair if this keeps up.
  • 37'
Dempsey comes close after latching on to a floated free kick into the goalmouth, but the ball is just slightly ahead of him and he kicks it wide.
  • 36'
Corner to TFC after a nifty give and go between Rey and DeRo. Bradley takes, and it's cleared.
  • 31'
Dempsey gets hauled down 30 yards from goal. His free kick is directly at the wall, and the threat is averted.
  • 29'
    SubstitutionBrad Evans G. Pineda
  • 26'
HUGE SAVE FREI! Rey gets himself into shooting position and tries to beat the Seattle keeper high, but he gets a hand on it in the nick of time.
  • 24'
    Goal Jermain Defoe
DEFOE AGAIN! The Englishman pounces on a poor back pass and races in on goal, unleashing a shot from the top of the 18 and beating Frei on the keeper's left side. Unreal debut for the striker.
  • 23'
CLOSE CALL! Bradley whips in a corner for Toronto, and it's powered toward goal by Henry. The ball JUST whizzes past the post, and the TFC youngster gets a full kick in the face from a Seattle defender for his efforts.
  • 22'
TFC with a lot of confidence now, attacking in waves.
  • 17'
    Goal Jermain Defoe
DEFOE OPENS HIS ACCOUNT! Osorio turns extremely well in the midfield to beat his man and sends Defoe in on goal, and the Englishman slots past Frei! That was Defoe's first touch of the match.
  • 15'
Brad Evans is down on the turf clutching his knee. Hopefully it's not too serious.
  • 12'
Sounder corner. Dealt with by the Torontp defence.
  • 10'
Seattle has much of the possession in the early going. Looks like TFC are still finding their feet.
  • 8'
Sounders wit the first half chance as they send a long ball down the right, but the subsequent cross is across the face of goal and out.
  • 5'
Players still getting adjusted to the turf, especially those from TFC.
  • 2'
TFC already had the first corner of the match. It came to nothing.
  • 1'
    And we're off!
  • Anthems underway. Just a few moments now.
  • We're moments away from kick off. The anticipation for this game is palpable.
  • The key matchup, despite the hype of the USMNT players on either side, is actually Bradley vs. Alonso. These players will dictate which team takes control of the midfield.
  • Seattle Sounders: Frei; Yedlin, Marshall, Traore, Remick; Evans (C), Alonso; Neagle, Dempsey, Pappa; Martins
  • Toronto FC: Cesar, Bloom, Caldwell, Henry, Morrow, Jackson, Bradley, Osorio, Rey, Defoe, De Rosario
  • With that in mind, here are the starting lineups for both sides...
  • Gilberto won't be available today due to a hip flexor injury, but the rest of Toronto's big names will take part.
  • TFC has, of course, completely overhauled their roster over the offseason, spending millions to bring in the likes of Jermain Defoe, Gilberto, and Michael Bradley. They've also landed Brazilian GK Julio Cesar on loan, and add a bunch of other pieces that are, on paper, upgrades over what they had before. This has led to a massive uptick in interest in the team, and this game in particular is the first "glamour" match of the MLS season.
  • This is the season opener for Toronto FC, and the second match of the campaign for the Seattle Sounders. Seattle won last week 1-0 over SKC thanks to a stoppage time goal from Chad Barrett.
  • Hello and welcome to Goal's LIVE commentary of Seattle vs. Toronto. I'm Rudi Schuller and I'll be guiding you through all the action today.
