Ligue 1 Preview: Saint-Etienne - Paris Saint-Germain

Ligue 1 Preview: Saint-Etienne - Paris Saint-Germain

Les Parisiens haven't tasted defeat in 20 matches and, with 15 goals scored in just five games, they look too hot to handle for a side with just one win in five.

Paris Saint-Germain will be out to continue its extraordinary run of form and stay top of Ligue 1 when the club travels to Saint-Etienne on Sunday.

PSG has not tasted defeat in any competition in its last 20 matches and sits in top spot following a 4-0 demolition of Bastia last weekend.

Laurent Blanc's men backed up that success with a 5-0 rout of Anderlecht in the Champions League, thanks to four goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Sweden international and strike partner Edinson Cavani have scored 19 goals between them so far this season, and they should be confident of adding to that tally against a side that has won just one of its last five.

However, Saint-Etienne took four points off PSG last term, winning 2-1 at the Parc des Princes before holding the capital club to a 2-2 draw at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard.

The champion will be seeking revenge for a loss in 2012-13, but will have to do it without captain Thiago Silva, who is still recovering from a thigh injury.

Defender Christophe Jallet (calf) and attacking midfielder Javier Pastore (thigh) are also on the sidelines.

However, Blanc will be able to call on the midfield pairing of Marco Verratti and Thiago Motta, who are set to return from domestic suspension.

Saint-Etienne has not beaten PSG at home in the league since 2008, when the team claimed a 1-0 victory.

Christophe Galtier's side will attempt to end that run without experienced defender Jonathan Brison, who misses out as he continues to struggle with match fitness.

But striker Mevlut Erding has been passed fit to play as les Verts look to continue their fine goalscoring form, with only PSG and Monaco surpassing their total of 15 strikes.
