Had little to do in the first half and could do nothing on the two goals as both were fine strikes. Not the league debut he would have envisioned.
Was strong in the back, timing his tackles well. Also was fantastic in the air in attack, but will be disappointed to concede twice.
Confident with the ball, dictating play with crisp passes, also showing his skill to beat defenders. Was the top player before being shown a red for a silly second-half kick to Biondini.
Was always a threat moving forward, sending in various low, dangerous balls into the box. In defence, did little to contribute to his team's cause.
The Argentine international was not called upon much as Heinze saw most of the work. Could have done better on the first goal to slide and attempt a block on the shot.
Played the ball well down the wing and also made a few tackles. Did not manage to make an impact in attacking areas, though, as his team suffered.
Had a poor game littered with misplaced passes, bad decisions and even worse shots on goal, as Roma toiled to break down Cagliari.
D. De Rossi
Average showing in the middle of the pitch. Scored a late goal off a rebound but by that stage his team were already beaten.
An uneventful game for the former Barcelona man, who did nothing to prove he can be an attacking threat in this set-up.
Ugly first half in his Serie A debut for his new club. The striker looked lost early, passing poorly, losing it on several occasions. Was taken off in the second half.
Could not connect well with Osvaldo, resulting in many long shots that failed. Tried to lead his team back by taking over with solo runs, but the Roma legend could not supply magic.
Was not called upon much early, but did make some fine saves in the second half including denying Borriello off the line. Solid performance.
Was not called upon frequently. Quite a boring performance, but he did not make any major mistakes.
Sturdy in the back, not letting the attackers get a quality look on goal.
Fluid movement out of the back, sending balls forward. Communicated well with his fellow defenders to frustrate Roma for most of the game.
Marked Osvaldo well, especially on long balls over the top. In the second half, was fantastic in front of goal, heading out numerous chances.
The midfielder nearly gave the visitors the lead with a curling effort that hit the crossbar late in the first half. Was better in the second, aiding in attack with balls wide.
Frustrated the Roma attack by recovering back after advancing up the pitch and took his goal with a cool, solid finish to set the scene for the stunning result.
Did he even play in the first half? Showed little creativity with the ball, only registering one decent look on goal before a couple of chances in the second period.
Was decent with the ball at his feet but failed to track back much, leaving Roma a lot of space in the middle of the pitch.
Tested the Roma goalkeeper only once, and perhaps didn't deserve to stay on the pitch for the entire contest.
Not a threat whatsoever, and taken off early in the second half, coinciding with his team driving to victory.

The play opened up more after the former Boca Juniors star came on the pitch, but in the end, no difference was made.

Poor substitution that brought very little.

Brought on to waste a little of the seven minutes of added time.
M. El Kabir
Little time on the pitch, but he did find the net with a great strike from the right side of the box. Impact sub who secured the victory.
Helped in the middle of the pitch as his long legs accounted for several tackles. The Colombian brought some tenacity to his side.
