A strong showing in the first half and some gritty defending in the second led to Real Salt Lake picking up three points at home on Saturday.
Robbie Findley scrambled home his first goal of the season just eight minutes into the match to give RSL an early lead. A long throw took a couple of awkward bounces before the U.S. international forward managed to poke it home with a heads-up touch after having his initial shot saved.
Findley was subbed off just four minutes later due to an injury.
Luis Gil made it 2-0 in the 35th minute. A well-worked corner started with a ball coming into the box low. Ned Grabavoy clipped it up from the line for the USA U-20 star to head into the far corner.
Brad Evans pulled one back for Seattle in the second half. Salt Lake failed to deal with a cross into the box on the first touch and Evans pounced, knocking home his shot off the inside of the post, but RSL hung on for all three points.
