Both sides finished with just 10 men on the pitch, but RSL managed to come from behind and then hang on for a victory. After three goals and two red cards between Real Salt Lake and the New England Revolution, the home side walked away as a 2-1 winner.
New England took the early advantage through Blake Brettschneider just 22 minutes in. That lead lasted only 11 minutes, with Alvaro Saborio pulling RSL level before the break.
Saborio was at it again 10 minutes after the restart, heading home to give his side the lead, but the drama of the match was far from over.
New England was a man up just four minute later when Will Johnson was sent off, and the Revs held the man advantage until the 81st minute. Fernando Cardenas was then sent off on what can only be called a very soft card and the match ended with a wide open pitch and both sides playing at a furious pace, but with no more goals to be had.
