Real Salt Lake 1-1 FC Dallas: Dallas settles for point against 10-man RSL

Dallas continued to fade from the Western Conference playoff race as it only earned a draw despite playing a man up for 75 minutes.

Up a man for 73 minutes and badly in need of three points to bolster its playoff odds, FC Dallas could only pull out a 1-1 draw at Real Salt Lake on Saturday.

Alvaro Saborio opened the scoring for Salt Lake before Kenny Cooper grabbed Dallas' equalizer. While RSL moved into the top spot in the Western Conference, Dallas now sits four points behind the LA Galaxy for the final playoff slot with one less game to play.

Salt Lake went down a man just 17 minutes in, with Abdoulie Mansally getting a straight red for a violent sliding tackle that sent Dallas winger Jackson tumbling through the air.

Despite playing the vast majority of the match with 10 men, RSL grabbed the opener in the 60th minute when Saborio shrugged off a challenge from Stephen Keel and slotted his shot in. It was the 11th goal in just 14 matches this season for the Costa Rican striker.

Dallas equalized 12 minutes later. Beating Tony Beltran down the left flank, substitute Je-Vaughn Watson hit a low, driven ball to the far post that Cooper hammered home.
