Cristiano Ronaldo 49'
M. Özil 56'
Full time in Madrid. Jose Mourinho's men go eight points clear of Barcelona in La Liga. With the Catalans playing this evening. Kaka, Ronaldo, and Ozil seal the 3-1 victory! Thank you for joining us on Goal.com! Stay tuned for coverage of Villarreal vs Barcelona!
90' + 1'
The match has been played at walking pace for a while now. Cristiano Ronaldo attempts a half hearted strike at goal from range but it goes high wide and not very handsome. That should be the last of the play.
Another speculative shot at goal from Lafita that goes wayward of the goal again. The Spaniard has had a number of long range shots on goal today bit none have came close to troubling Casillas.
Very quiet period in the game at the moment. Both sides are just wanting the final whistle now as Real Madrid strut their way through the last couple of minutes.
Free kick to Zaragoza as Obradovic gets down to the byline again and lashes a wicked cross along the six yard box but Callejon is there to turn the ball around for a corner. Excellent covering from the Madrid substitute.
Zaragoza look to have accepted the result also. The possession is all Madrid at the moment with the visitors just attempting damage limitations.
Marcelo looks to be struggling with injury at the moment. He has took up a position in central midfield as Callejon helps out at left back. The Brazilian may just need to power through as Real Madrid have used all three of their substitutions.
Neat turn in central midfield from Lassana Diarra which opens up some room in front of the Zaragoza defence. The ball finds its way to Callejon down the left but the substitute plays it safe back into midfield and Madrid continue their passing game.
Real Madrid just passing the ball patiently around the pitch at the moment. They are in no rush and why should they be with a two goal advantage.
@arehman9 writes on Twitter: "Looking at RM a 5-1 win for #RM and @KAKA's form shows Dimaria is in trouble for his position in Starting XI" Two more goals is certainly not out of the question for the home side. They still have plenty of firepower on the pitch!
Third Real Madrid change of the match and it is the customary switch between Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain.
Great chance for Zaragoza!! Helder Postiga drives forward and finds himself through on goal and smashes a shot on target but Casillas remains big to make a good save!
Lafita comes forward and is awarded plenty of room as Pepe continues to back away but instead of passing to team-mates in space in wide positions he opts for a shot at goal that goes horribly wide.
Both sides make another change as Kaka is replaced by Jose Callejon for Madrid and Carlos Aranda is replaced by Pablo Barrera for Zaragoza.
The game is very open at the moment. With Zaragoza having added a player up front they have left more space in the midfield area, which is allowing Kaka and Ozil to come deep to receive the ball to affect play.
Yellow Card Cristiano Ronaldo
Free kick to Zaragoza down the left wing. Obradovic goes on a pacey run but is chopped down by Cristiano Ronaldo, who earns a yellow card for his challenge.
First Real Madrid substitution of the match as Xabi Alonso as replaced by Lassana Diarra. The playmaker given a rare rest now as Madrid attempt to see out the last half hour.
Ronaldo comes into a central position and attempts to play an eye of the needle pass through the defence for Marcelo but Luis Garcia gets back to make the interception. The Zaragoza man has worked tirelessly down that right flank for his side so far.
Goal Mesut Özil
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAL FOR REAL MADRID!!! Granero places a neat pass into the feet of Kaka just outside the box and the Brazilian lays the ball into the path of Ozil who drives into the area before lashing a strike past Roberto at his near post!!
Substitution for Real Zaragoza as Ruben Micael comes off to be replaced by Helder Postiga. A positive substitution from Manolo Jimenez as he brings on a striker for a midfielder.
@nadimrmeity writes on Twitter: "Its the same Routine always real madrid conceed an early goal but they end up winning" This was posted before the Madrid goal so it looks like a very accurate analysis!
Assist Mesut Özil
Goal Cristiano Ronaldo
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAL FOR REAL MADRID!!! Karim Benzema sends a pass down the right for Ozil who crosses the ball first time to the back post for Ronaldo who scores with an easy tap in!! Hints of offside there but it was very close!
Another penalty claim for Real Madrid!! Kaka drives into the box and goes down under the challenge of Paredes! It looked like the Zaragoza man got the ball! Good decision from the referee.
Madrid kick off the second half. Zaragoza have performed well so far, especially in defence, but expect Real Madrid to up the tempo of their play in the second half.
Half time in Santiago Bernabeu. All square at half time as Kaka cancels out Lafita's goal to take the match to 1-1 at half time. A very intriguing encounter at the moment. Join us in 15 minutes for the second half!
Yellow Card Apoño
Hamit Altintop catalyses the boos with a very ambitious speculative shot from thirty yards that goes miles over the bar. Madrid lost the intensity of their play in the last few minutes as Zaragoza have had a couple of small periods of possession.
The Santiago Bernabeu fans are getting slightly tense now due Real Madrid not making the most of the possession they are having. They continue to dominate the ball but are not creating enough clear cut chances.
@Victor_Irabor has gave a Twitter prediction of 2-1 to Real Zaragoza this evening. He also writes: "Zaragoza early goal might help them secure a draw today" What do we think of this? A bould prediction but the away side do seem to be acquitting themselves well!
Real Madrid counterattack at pace after a misplaced pass from Lafita with Ronaldo down the right who drives a pass out to Mesut Ozil who keeps the ball in play with a glorious touch, taking the ball out of the air. The tempo comes out of the attack, however, after Zaragoza manage to regroup.
HUUUYYYY!!! Ronaldo lashes the free kick at goal but it goes just over the bar!! It had Roberto scrambling anyway!
Another free kick to Real Madrid, this time on the very edge of the Zaragoza box. Ronaldo is brought down with an arm across the back of the head. This is certainly in the territory of the Portuguese.
Assist Ricardo Carvalho
GOOOOOOOAAAAAAL FOR REAL MADRID!!! Cristiano Ronaldo spots an excellent run from Kaka in behind the Zaragoza defence and slides a ball through the middle for the Brazilian who has time to turn on to his right foot and coolly pass the ball into the bottom corner from the left of the goal!!
Karim Benzema slides a past down the left for Marcelo who drives forward as reverses a pass to the penalty spot for Kaka, but the Brazilian stretches to hit his shot and ends up slicing the ball wide!
Real Madrid have stepped up a gear in the last couple of minutes. Some cracks just appearing in the Zaragoza ranks but they remain solid for the time being.
Yellow Card Paredes
HUUUYYYY!!! Mesut Ozil whips a cross into the Zaragoza box and Kaka delicately glances a header at goal but his attempt goes a whisker by the left-hand post! Half the ground thought it was in!
Free kick to Real Madrid in a dangerous position. Esteban Granero just cut inside from the right and drove towards goal but Paredes commits a cynical foul, and receives a yellow card.
Zaragoza look slightly shaky for the first time in the match as Marcelo breaks the offside trap and drives into the box but Roberto darts out from his goal and makes an excellent save at the feet off the Brazilian. The Santiago Bernabeu crowd want a penalty kick but it was a clean tackle from the Zaragoza goalkeeper.
Most of Real Madrid's play has come down the left wing with Ronaldo and Marcelo so far. However, the hosts are finding it difficult to breakdown Zaragoza due to the complete lack of space available. Patience will need to be a virtue for Mourinho's men!
Esteben Granero finds a pocket of space just outside the Zaragoza box and jinks left and right before lashing a shot with his weaker foot at goal. Fortunately for Zaragoza the attempt goes wayward of the goal.
Penalty shout for Madrid!! Obradovic appears to clip the heel of Granero inside the box but the referee waves play on! The crowd are demanding a spot-kick!
Luis Garcia receives a fantastic cross field pass out to the right-hand side but surrenders possession very cheaply when trying to slide a pass through to Lafita. Marcelo makes the easy interception and launches an attack for Madrid.
To be fair to Zaragoza, they are defending in large numbers but are not shy to send players forward when counterattacking. Lafita is leading the line well for his side at the moment.
Assist Carlos Aranda
Well that is certainly against the run of play but Zaragoza have snatched a shock lead. The only bad news for Manolo Jimenez's men is that Real Madrid have a very long time to get back into the match.
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLL FOR REAL ZARAGOZA!!! Aranda makes an intelligent run across the Madrid penalty area and receives the ball down the right channel before reversing a cross into the box where Lafita is standing for a tap in!! The bottom club in La Liga lead the team at the summit!
Madrid may need to be very crafty when attempting to create chances this evening as every time Mesut Ozil gets the ball and turns to face goal he is faced with a wall of Zaragoza players. Relatively solid form the visitors so far.
What a miss from Karim Benzema!! Ronaldo whips in a fantastic cross to the far post for the Frenchman, who bizarrely heads the ball away from goal from four yards! Technique all wrong from the striker there.
Madrid have the majority of the possession at the moment but are finding it hard to find some room in the final third with Zaragoza squeezing the space in front of their defence.
The game has started at a fairly high tempo with the hosts dominating possession thus far. To be fair to Zaragoza, though, they have pressed Madrid intensely in midfield.
The match seems like a formality in terms of a Real Madrid victory but do not forget, Zaragoza were the last team, other than Barcelona, to defeat the capital club at Santiago Bernabeu.
The game has kicked off in Madrid. It is the league leaders against the team at the bottom of La Liga as Real Madrid take on Real Zaragoza. Lets hope we get a game with some real entertainment on show this evening!
Lets get some score predictions on Twitter before kick off!
Jose Mourinho names a fairly attacking line-up tonight with Granero, Ozil, and Kaka all getting the nod. Ricardo Carvalho comes into defence due to Sergio Ramos being suspended. Madrid are coming off the Copa del Rey defeat to Barcelona so moral may not be high for the home side. They will just need to get back on track quickly as the Catalan side may take advantage of any lapse from the league leaders.
This is the starting XI of Real Zaragoza: Roberto; Obradovic, Lanzaro, da Silva, Paredes; Dujmovic, Apono, Micael, Lafita; Luis Garcia; Aranda
The teams are in and this is how Real Madrid will be lining up tonight: Casillas; Altintop, Pepe, Carvalho, Marcelo; Granero, Xabi Alonso; Ozil, Kaka, Ronaldo; Benzema
