Willy Caballero put in a goalkeeping performance of the highest order but still finds himself on the losing side as a goal from Angel Di Maria and a penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo seal a vital three points for Real Madrid in Santiago Bernabeu. Los Blancos were frustrated by the visitors for the majority of the match, but it was eventually a comfortable win for Ancelotti's men. A commendable performance from Malaga, but they leave empty handed! I'm Martin Macdonald, thank you for joining us, see you next time!
FULL TIME IN MADRID.
90' + 3'
Yellow Card Daniel Carvajal
90' + 1'
Penalty Goal Cristiano Ronaldo
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLL FOR REAL MADRID!!! Ronaldo steps up and smashes an unstoppable penalty into the bottom left corner! 2-0! Game over!
PENALTY FOR REAL MADRID!!! BALE GOES DOWN UNDER THE CHALLENGE OF WELIGTON!
You guessed it folks, CABALLERO MAKES ANOTHER SAVE! This time the wonder-keeper denies Marcelo, as he tips the Brazilian's 25-yard strike over the bar.
Time is running out for Malaga here, and you really have to feel sorry for Willy Caballero, there's no way he deserves to be on the losing side.
WHAT A FANTASTIC SAVE FROM CABALLERO!! WHAT A PERFORMANCE! Marcelo breaks through the middle and plays the ball out to Bale who slides the ball back inside for Ronaldo, who's shot looks a certainty to find the bottom corner. Willy is there AGAIN to tip the strike away! Unbelievable goalkeeping tonight!
Yellow Card Weligton
Ángel Di María
CABALLERO SAVES AGAIN!!! A cross is whipped to the front post and Ronaldo gets ahead of his marker to head towards goal, but the Argentine goalkeeper makes a point-blank save to turn the attempt away!
Yellow Card Sergio Sánchez
Just under 10 minutes to go now. Can Malaga claw an unlikely goal back or will Real Madrid grab another with the firepower they have at their disposal?
Roque Santa Cruz
Malaga make their final changes also in a double-substitution. Darder and Santa Cruz come on for Portillo and Antunes. Brave switches from Schuster.
Madrid make another change and their latest Galactico, Gareth Bale, makes his return from injury. The Welshman will replace Alvaro Morata. Ronaldo to go up top now?
Ronaldooooo! SAVE AGAIN FROM CABALLERO! Madrid's No.7 steps up and rifles the free kick towards the top corner but once again the Malaga goalkeeper makes a solid save to keep his side in the match.
Yellow Card Jesús Gámez
The break in play allows Carlo Ancelotti to make his first substitution of the match. Luka Modric enters the fray in place of Isco, who has been quiet today.
Another Malaga booking now as Jesus Gamez goes in very late on Morata on the edge of the box. Now you wouldn't expect Di Maria to take this one- this is Ronaldo territory.
First change of the match from Malaga as the disappointing Samuel comes off to be replaced by Bobley Anderson.
Isco twists and turns on the edge of the box and looks to find space to thread a pass through, but he is hounded down by Camacho and Tissone and eventually surrenders the ball. Malaga counter.
RONALDOOOOOO!!! How did he miss that! The Madrid man looks to get on the end of a teasing cross to the back post but just can't stretch out a toe to stab home into the empty net! Malaga let off the hook!
Jesus Gamez goes on a rare run forward down the right and looks to pick out Samuel with a slid pass in behind the Madrid defence. However, Diego Lopez is off his line quickly to come out, claim, and redistribute.
Malaga look to counterattack and the ball comes to Samuel just outside the centre circle. He doesn't have much in terms of support but does well to earn a free kick out of Morata. That'll take the pressure off his side for a spell.
The visitors are still holding a threat on the counterattack, however. The pace of Eliseu and El Hamdaoui are still causing Madrid slight problems, but Diego Lopez hasn't had a save to make so far.
Malaga's excellent offside trap succeeds again as Ronaldo gets to the byline and smashes a ball into the area which is bundled home. However, the linesman had his flag up again. The amount of offsides for Madrid so far has been outrageous.
Madrid just popping the ball around nicely at the moment. El Hamdaoui and Samuel are putting in plenty of effort up top, but there's no real quality in their play in the final third.
A disappointing corner from Madrid floats into the hands of Caballero, taking the pressure off the visitors.
Great defending from Sergio Sanchez. Khedira exchanges a lovely one-two with Di Maria and gallops to the byline before reversing a cross inside. Ronaldo looks poised to have a strike at goal but he is stopped in his tracks by Sanchez, bu slides out for a corner.
Speculative effort from Ronaldo this time. The Portuguese collects possession 30 yards from goal and unleashes a trademark dipping strike, but Caballero gets down to make the comfortable save in the middle of goal.
Saaaaaaave by Caballero! The Argentine atones for his slight error for the Madrid opener by diving across his area to palm away Isco's shot, which looked destined to find the bottom left corner.
Yellow Card Eliseu
A superb start to the second period for Madrid. A change of game plan is needed for Malaga now, it wont be enough to be solid defensively. A bit more attacking ambition required.
Goal Ángel Di María
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLL FOR REAL MADRID!! LOS BLANCOS COME FLYING OUT OF THE BLOCKS IN THE SECOND HALF! Di Maria picks up the ball on the right and looks to whip a cross into Ronaldo. The cross wrong-foots Caballero and nestles into the far post! 1-0!
We are back under way in Madrid!
Half time in Santiago Bernabeu. Malaga have frustrated Real Madrid so far as we enter the break at 0-0. Willy Caballero has certainly been on form tonight as he's pulled off a string of saves against Ronaldo, Di Maria, and Morata. Bernd Schuster's men did look dangerous in the latter stages on the first half though, so a promising second 45 minutes is in store!
Malaga in the ascendancy here, they wont want to hear the half time whistle!
No takers for Malaga! El Hamdaoui does brilliantly to outfight Ramos at the corner flag and run inside at the byline and reverse a ball to the back post. It was begging to be smashed home but Madrid manage to scramble away!
ELISEUUUU! That was a definite chance! The ball breaks kindly for the Portuguese at the back post but he horribly slices his strike wide! He had time to pick his spot!
Ronaldo goes on a blistering run down the left and leaves three Malaga players for dead before bursting inside. However, his ball into Illarramendi is easily cut out by Camacho.
Isco pops up in a deep position on the left and looks to float a cross to the back post, but his ball inside harmlessly goes out for a goal kick. The former Malaga man has been very quiet so far.
To be fair to the Malaga defenders, their offside trap has been absolutely flawless so far. Three or four times now, we have seen a number of Madrid players caught ahead of play at the same time after crosses from the wings.
ANOTHER excellent save by Caballero! Morata gets on the end of a cross inside the box but his attempt his denied by the Argentine, who jumps out like a starfish to make a solid block!
It's been all Madrid in the opening 30 minutes here folks. Caballero is having a superb game so far and he is the reason the hosts aren't one or two goals up. Can Malaga continue to weather the storm?
Caballero denies Ronaldo again! The former Man Utd man latches on to a pass through the middle and lashes a strike towards the bottom left corner, but once again is is foiled but the Malaga 'keeper, who makes a strong save with his right arm.
Ronaldo breaks away on the left and bursts into the area. He goes down under the challenges of Jesus Gamez and Sergio Sanchez, but there wasn't a lot in it. The Portuguese half-heartedly asks for a penalty, but the ref waves play on.
Di Maria's cross from the right are causing problems for the visitors at the moment. The Argentine cuts back and whips balls towards goal with his left-foot, and the pace looks to be troubling Malaga. They survive for the time being, though.
A break in play at the moment as Weligton is currently down after a challenge from Khedira. Looked a fair challenge, but the Malaga defender is making the most of it.
Great save from Caballero. Morata picks up the ball on the left and looks to whip a strike whip pace towards the far top corner, but the goalkeeper dives across and comfortably claims the attempt out of the air.
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLL FOR REAL MADRID!! WAIT! NO! OFFSIDE! A cross is curled into the edge of the six-yard box and Morata bullets a header into the corner, but the linesman had his flag up! Correct decision from the official.
Morataaaaa!!! Again Madrid should score! Di Maria receives the ball deep down the right flank and cuts back before whipping a cross into the box for the 20-year-old, who's header goes straight down the throat of Caballero! Either side and that was in!
Madrid have looked pretty comfortable so far. Bar Portillo's early strike, Malaga have barely caused a threat in the final third.
RONALDO SHOULD SCORE!! Madrid counterattack at pace and Di Maria frees the Portuguese down the inside-left channel, but his eventual shot is dragged wide of the post! He usually buries them!
Di Mariaaaa! Great save from Caballero! Ronaldo gives up free kick duties to the Argentine who swings the set-piece towards the corner, but the Malaga 'keeper got across goal to punch the ball out for a corner kick.
Yellow Card Antunes
Free kick to Madrid in Ronaldo territory after Antunes cynically brings down Khedira on the edge and earns himself the first yellow card of the match.
El Hamdaoui breaks out of midfield and looks to exchange a lovely one-two with Samuel down the right wing but Marcelo makes a superb recovery to win the back for Madrid.
RONALDOOOOO!!!! HE HITS THE WOODWORK! Morata slides the ball out to the Portuguese who cuts back inside before unleashing a sensational strike towards the top corner, but it just doesn't dip in time and crashes off the bar!
Di Maria swings in the free kick and Malaga clear for a corner kick. The set-piece then comes in but the visitors get the free kick as Sami Khedira is flagged as offside.
A real opportunity for Madrid here as Carvajal is fouled by Camacho. Free kick to the hosts down the right-hand side.
Portillooooo!!! Unlucky! The Malaga man bursts forward and finds some space on the edge of the area before stabbing a shot towards the bottom corner. Diego Lopez gets down to make the save though.
We get a shot of Schuster on the bench and the German is sporting a rather fetching sweater-vest in the dugout! Fashion week in Madrid it seems!
We are under way in Santiago Bernabeu!
We just approaching kick-off now but there's been a slight delay as the Real Madrid basketball team come on brandishing a rather tremendous trophy. Not long now for the football to start though!
It may not be particularly surprising to see Karim Benzema dropped today, but the Frenchman does not even feature on the bench for Los Blancos.
Los Boquerones didn't have the best of times on their last visit to Los Blancos, as they succumbed to a heavy 6-2 defeat. Raul Albiol, Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, Angel Di Maria, and Mesut Ozil were all on the scoresheet that day.
Malaga have gone through a mini-revolution in the summer, with many high-profile names leaving La Rosaleda. However, they still hold an impressive spine, with Willy, Weligton, Camacho, and El Hamdaoui all surely vital to any success here.
He gets his chance today; will he impress?
The highest profile inclusion is that of Alvaro Morata, who replaces Karim Benzema up top. The 20-year-old has emerged as a fan favourite, and the Santiago Bernabeu faithful have been campaigning for him to get a start all season.
Gareth Bale only makes the bench for Real Madrid as he looks to recover from a back injury, so Angel Di Maria keeps his place on the attacking-right position.
A couple of interesting team selections from the former AC Milan coach...
So we have the rare opportunity to see Los Blancos play in the daylight today folks, but will Ancelotti's men shine as Bernd Schuster makes his return to Santiago Berbabeu?
Malaga (4-2-3-1): Willy; Gamez, Sanchez, Weligton, Antunes; Portillo, Camacho; Tissone, Eliseu, Samuel; El Hamdaoui.
Real Madrid (4-2-3-1): Diego Lopez; Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo; Illarramendi, Khedira; Isco, Di Maria, Ronaldo, Morata.
I'm Martin Macdonald, and it's my pleasure to take you through the action today.
Good afternoon folks! Welcome to LIVE coverage of the Spanish Primera Division clash between Real Madrid and Malaga from Santiago Bernabeu!
