That's it, final whistle has gone and it's 3-1 to Barcelona.
90' + 4'
One last chance for Ronaldo to pull one back from this late free kick.
90' + 2'
No way back for Madrid at this point. Barcelona continues its dominance of this rivalry in recent times. We're deep in stoppage time and the Catalans are in complete control.
Still it's Barca on the attack. Real's defense once again has to scramble the ball to safety.
Barcelona wins a corner and it's looking more and more likely that there's no way back for Madrid.
Barcelona gets the danger cleared and the break ends with Xavi forcing another big save out of Casillas.
Finally Madrid has a great chance and it's Kaka, but Valdes saves it away for a corner. Madrid still pressing from the restart.
Barcelona has done very well in the last few minutes to hold the ball and keep it away from Real, but Madrid is finally back on it pushing forward.
Barcelona has survived the onslaught and is standing firm, trying to hold the ball. Madrid now looking to hit on the break time and again, but nothing is coming off.
Now Xavi's head lets him down and Madrid almost makes Barcelona pay.
Tackles are flying in from the Madrid players now. They seem desperate to win the ball back at all costs.
Real Madrid has a huge task here to get back into the game. Not shying away from it though. But Barcelona is looking terribly dangerous on the break.
Yellow Card Sergio Ramos
Ángel Di María
It's safe to say that Barcelona has taken this match over. What a huge swing. A great chance to put the match level for Ronaldo and the Fabregas widens the gap after the Madrid star lets Barca off the hook.
Assist Daniel Alves
Goal Cesc Fàbregas
And Fabregas makes him pay almost immediately. Barcelona rushed back down to the other end and the former Arsenal man makes it 3-1 with his head. No mistake made there.
What a chance missed there, and you wouldn't expect Ronaldo to flash a header wide from that angle and that distance. Great ball in from Xabi Alonso, and he just missed the target. Chances won't get much better than that.
Now Messi with his chance from a free kick, Maybe a bit far out, but he has a go and sends it wide of the mark.
Yellow Card Pepe
Big saves from Casillas. The angle was in his favor, but Barcelona is getting forward more and more often.
Yellow Card Lassana Diarra
Back and forth we go. End to end action. Kaka has come on for Madrid to try and bring a spark.
Ronaldo's pass is cut out at the last minute, but Real is finding ways to get forward again... and then at the other end it takes some last ditch defending to stop another potential Barcelona goal..
Benzema is trying to answer, wins a corner.
And there's the next big swing. Xavi had a go from well outside the box and it just went his way.
Own Goal Marcelo
GOAL!!!!! Barcelona goes up 2-1!!! Xavi, as he does, pops up at a big time. He gets help from a huge deflection and Barcelona has its first lead of the night.
A little slower pace to start the second half. The fouls play into that, but you'd think a slower game is in Barcelona's favor.
The second one isn't hit with the same pace, but it does force a save.
The first one is blocked away, but he'll get another look as Alves fouls Pepe almost immediately.
Yellow Card Piqué
Danger here for Barcelona. Ronaldo will get to line up a free kick in striking range.
Madrid moving from right to left as I see it, and when Valdes touches the ball the pressure is put on, looking for another mistake.
Second half is underway.
What a good first half. Plenty of intensity and you can tell there is a lot riding on this match. Neither team can afford to drift at all, as Valdes and Barcelona found out early on, or it could be very costly. Back in just a minute with all the second half action.
Into the final minutes of the first half. It's 1-1. Wouldn't have really expected anything other than what we're seeing. Great match, and the final whistle of the half goes.
Madrid looking to attack again, but Baca's back line looks like it has settled down some. More organized now, not as much space to attack.
Madrid maybe grabbing a bit of control back. Plenty of attacking football all around.
Yellow Card Lionel Messi
The goal has brought Barcelona back into the match in more ways than one. The visitors are playing better, getting more of the ball and generally creating more.
Game on from here. Barcelona strikes on the break with Messi setting the table and Alexis finishing it off. What a first half an hour of soccer. Great stuff across the board.
Assist Lionel Messi
Goal Alexis Sánchez
And as I say that, it's 1-1!!! Alexis Sanchez pulls Barcelona back level after a brilliant pass from Messi.
Real end to end battle. Still, it's Madrid on top 1-0 and on the balance of play that seems just at this point. Barcelona certainly doesn't look the better side.
Yellow Card Alexis Sánchez
Yellow Card Xabi Alonso
It was there for Ronaldo... He had a great look at goal, tried to bend it to the far post. What a chance missed. He pushed it wide.
Now Barcelona has a free kick and Xavi tests Casillas with it. Pushed out for a corner which is also dealt with.
It's almost odd to see Barcelona trying to hit on the counter. Not the team's strongest point though certainly not a weakness either.
Ronaldo with a stinging shot that Valdes has to knock away. Madrid with almost all of the chances to this point aside from one Messi burst forward.
Brilliant opening quarter of an hour. Barcelona hasn't had much to say about the game to this point. Madrid has simply been faster with more energy. But you can tell the Catalans are trying to find a way back in.
Di Maria is down on the pitch and looks hurt. No contact, just an awkward slip n the pitch.
Ronaldo forces a save, a rather easy one mind you, with a header, but Madrid seems to be on the front foot. Barcelona hasn't shown much comfort yet with the speed of play.
Barcelona will have a free kick in a dangerous spot. Not the biggest team, or the biggest threat on crosses, and it's cleared out and Madrid is out on the break. The pace of this match is really impressive.
Now a mistake out of Madrid's back line. Messi pounces on Ramos' slip and breaks at goal, pushing his shot just wide.
Madrid back on the ball and this match is off to a frantic start, Madrid making it clear that Barcelona will not have time and space to knock the ball around at will.. at least int he early going.
We didn't even have time to get the match underway and it's 1-0 to Madrid. Huge mistake at the back for Barcelona and Madrid is ahead.
Goal Karim Benzema
GOAL!! Goal!!!!! Wow, don't blink!! Benzema and it's 1-0. Huge mistake from Valdez leads to it and Benzema puts it away.
Assist Mesut Özil
We are off and running...
Just a few minutes away from the opening kickoff now. This match always draws plenty of interest from around the world with so many superstars on both sides. It's the seventh such meeting in the calender year 2011 and the last in a run that included the Copa Del Rey, Champions League and La Liga. Barcelona has been largely on top over the last couple of years, but if Real gets a win here the pressure will be squarely on Pep Guardiola's side to make up the gap at the top of the league. Madrid won't make it easy as the club is simply flying through La Liga right now. Get set... this is going to be a great match.
Welcome in to live commentary of El Clasico!! It's Real Madrid at home against Barcelona, arguably the two best teams in the world. The two best players in the world will also be on the pitch with Cristiano Ronaldo on one side and Lionel Messi on the other. Should be a great match, stick around and we'll have all the action for you LIVE!!!
