Reading's in-form goalkeeper was superb yet again, keeping the score down countless times as City pummelled the Royals goal. Denied Aguero early on with a low stop before saving from various City shots, particularly in the second half. Nothing he could do about Aguero's fine opener and was left exposed at the end for Dzeko's late goal.
Had a couple of hairy moments as City dominated early on, but swung in a good cross at the other end as Reading tried to make an impact. Denied by Lescott's tackle after the break but his passing was too often off the mark.
Like Mariappa, struggled with the movement of Tevez and Aguero early on, but denied the latter with an excellent last-ditch block.
Had a tough time in the first half, with City's front four showing some excellent movement. Grew stronger, though, and made some of his trademark timely interceptions before denying Yaya Toure with a committed block and seeing a header of his own cleared off the line.
Required mostly defensively, he wasn't able to get forward and support McCleary as much as he would have hoped, and, like Gunter on the other flank, his delivery wasn't up to scratch.
Largely anonymous in the opening period, with City in charge of the midfield early on, and even when the hosts had the better of possession his passing wasn't good enough.
Had a very quiet game and was unable to make any real impact on proceedings apart from a superb late drive which was stopped by Hart.
Blasted a poor effort way over the bar early on, but forced a good save from Hart with a strong low effort after good work on the right, but had a hit-and-miss second half with some good touches but bad passing.
Regularly switched positions with Robson-Kanu and was the quieter of the two, struggling to find time and space between the lines.
Registered the hosts' first shot on target with a low drive, and made a couple of good driving runs forward in the first half but wasn't as dangerous after the break.
Like many matches this season, he has looked very isolated in front of Reading's creative players. He won some headers and saw an effort saved by Hart but wasn't really involved enough.
Dodgy distribution was Hart's main problem in the first half as he wasn't really tested for much of the first 45 minutes, but he did well to deny McCleary's low shot before the break, and he made another good save from Karacan's drive.
Hardly had a look-in this season under Mancini, but was named captain by Brian Kidd and immediately had to switch positions when Toure went off injured. Generally looked solid against Pogrebnyak and led well from the back.
Didn't have too much to do in a defensive capacity in the first half as Reading's rare attacks were mostly down the other side, but did make a vital challenge on Gunter after the break before making a clearance from under the crossbar
Had a fairly quiet opening period but nearly doubled City's lead before the break as he hammered a shot over the bar. Also played more of a supporting role in the second half, but defended solidly under some late Reading pressure.
Immediately pressed the visitors' advantage, taking control in the middle and helping set several early attacks going but succumbed to Reading pressure a couple of times and ended up being cautioned, with Kidd replacing him almost certainly as a precaution.
A very fine performance on his return to the side. Denied by McCarthy early on after good work by Tevez, having already created a chance for Aguero, before he set up the Argentina striker once more for his goal, and even made a vital challenge at the other end.
Tested McCarthy early on with a stinging low drive, but drifted in and out of the game, before playing a big part in Aguero's goal, orchestrating a superb corner.
Wasn't keen on making any of his usual marauding runs, but supported the front four well, helping to boss the midfield alongside Barry. Had some prolonged quiet periods as he looked tired in the second half
Was a real threat in the opening stages, playing a key role in almost every City attack. Did go quiet a few times, but looked very sharp and kept things level late on with a clearance off the line.
Another to see a shot saved by McCarthy in the first few minutes and showed excellent movement, eventually scoring before the break with a superb finish. Came off in the second half for Dzeko after going down awkwardly in the box.
Replaced the injured Kolo Toure and City immediately looked weaker on the right. He looked very rusty, mistiming a couple of interceptions, but provided an extra outlet in attack.
Replaced Barry just before the hour and sat deep in City's midfield, trying to soak up any Reading pressure. Dropped back as the hosts pushed for an equaliser late on and defended well.
Given just under half an hour by Kidd as he replaced Aguero and wasted a good chance, drilling straight at McCarthy, but found some excellent positions and finished the game late on with a cool finish.
