Saved by Gunter's clearance early on but made a succession of fine saves to deny Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge and Gerrard far too many times to count. Considering he hasn't played for some time this was an absolutely staggering performance.
Not his best afternoon. Was lucky to get away with losing possession on several occasions as Liverpool spurned several chances, and he wasted a couple of good chances to get the ball in the box at the other end. Like Mariappa, though, he was fully committed and made a couple of good blocks.
Kept things level early on as he denied Suarez off the line but inadvertently set up another chance for the Uruguayan with a sloppy pass.
Has made more defensive clearances than any other Reading player and fulfilled that role again today, tidying up several times and producing an excellent block from Gerrard's volley.
Often had to contend with Sturridge out wide, and found it tough going, but supported McAnuff well going forward.
Got the better of Johnson down the wing a couple of times early on and looked like Reading's best hope going forward, but also tracked back well to help out Kelly, who was struggling with Sturridge. Had a great chance late on but saw his deflected effort saved by Reina
Was full of intent in the first half, but his long passes weren't up to scratch, and a generally frustrating afternoon was capped by a yellow card for a silly challenge on Sturridge.
Like most of his side he struggled to get many meaningful touches early on, and with Pogrebnyak struggling up front he couldn't help out going forward. Replaced by Carrico just before the hour.
Could not be faulted for effort as he was committed in the tackles and chased the ball down consistently, forcing Reina's first save of the match in the second half with a low effort, but apart from that wasn't really able to make an impact as Liverpool dominated. Replaced by Le Fondre late on.
Set a dangerous Reading move going on the half hour mark with a darting run forward, but came up against a strong opponent in Enrique and often found himself isolated.
Looked off the pace early on and struggled to get into the game. His touch was often too heavy and he didn't cause Liverpool's center backs any trouble. His best contribution was a low cross for Hunt
One of the more comfortable afternoons for the Reds goalkeeper as his side dominated proceedings and the defense tidied up when called upon. It was deep into the second half before he had to make a save, denying Hunt with a low block.
Struggled with the quick threat of McAnuff down the wing and was lucky to escape a booking for a poor challenge. Didn't get as forward as he usually does, either.
Spurned a decent chance in the first half, meeting a corner unmarked and blasting his header over the bar, before producing a vital clearance from a Stephen Kelly cross, with McCleary bearing down.
Had a relatively quiet afternoon as Liverpool dominated in the middle, but made a couple of important clearances from Reading set pieces.
Overall he dealt with McCleary very well and, as he so often does, supported attacks down the left well. When Carrico came on he struggled as Reading doubled up on him.
Liveliest player on the pitch in the fairly subdued opening stages, and nearly opened the scoring with a curling low effort before having a cheeky backheeled finish ruled out for offside then clipping the post with a fine side-footed effort.
Enjoyed a huge amount of space in the middle and was able to spread the play in typical fashion, letting the attacking trio in front do as they pleased. Had a few shots of his own, as is customary, and nearly scored the winner late on with a rifled effort which McCarthy saved superbly.
After signing a new deal in midweek, Lucas looked much quieter than the rest of the Liverpool midfield, and his first major contribution was a foul on McCleary at full pace, which earned him a booking. One too many misplaced passes for the Brazilian in this one.
Shifted out to the left hand side of Liverpool's midfield, but wasn't involved much as the majority of the Reds' attacks come on the right flank. Did have a chance before the break as his volleyed effort from 20 yards was deflected wide, but was subbed in the second half before he could make an impact.
A much quieter performance from the Uruguay international. Nearly opened the scoring with a delightful chip over McCarthy only to be denied by Gunter's clearance, but drifted out of the game in the second half, although he had a late flurry as he clipped the post with a superb curling free kick before seeing a close-range volley saved by McCarthy.
Regularly drifted out to the right and found plenty of joy. Produced an excellent dummy to set up Suarez's early chance, before seeing one of his own saved low. He was a constant problem for the Reading defense but struggled to produce a decent finish, blasting over with a poor late effort.
