Live Commentary

  • Thank you for following the action from Loftus Road with us this afternoon. Join us again as Goal.com brings you LIVE! text commentary from all the biggest games across Europe. Until then, I've been Theo Squires, thank you and goodbye.
  • Harry Redknapp will be delighted with his side's performance today against his former club. Andre Villas-Boas not so much, but his men's unbeaten run is extended to seven, and they are yet to lose a game in 2012.
  • Full time and it finishes QPR 0-0 Spurs. Spurs struggled to break down a stubborn QPR defence, who were more than happy to settle for a point. The draw lifts Rangers off the bottom of the Premier League table but for how long?
  • 90' + 2'
30 seconds left and QPR have a free kick just inside their own half. Harry Redknapp is beckoning for his team to get it as far forward as possible.
  • 90' + 1'
QPR have everyone behind the ball and they're all flinging their bodies infront of the ball as Defoe becomes the latest player to see an effort at goal blocked.
  • 90'
    Two minutes added on...
  • 88'
Taarabt tries another clever through ball but Lloris gets to it first and clears upfield.
  • 85'
Taarabt feeds Wright-Phillips in a rare QPR attack this half. However the diminutive winger misses the ball when lining up the shot in the penalty area and Tottenham get it away.
  • 84'
Bale takes it but it is poor and bounces harmlessly wide.
  • 84'
Tottenham have another free kick in a dangerous position after a foul on Clint Dempsey.
  • 82'
QPR have everyone behind the ball as Tottenham continue to push forward. No breakthrough as of yet. It remains 0-0.
  • 81'
Free-kick to Tottenham outwide on the left hand side. Sigurdsson takes but it is easily cleared.
  • 80'
    Substitution Aaron Lennon Gylfi Sigurdsson
Gylfi Sigurdsson comes on Aaron Lennon, who has been somewhat anonymous this afternoon.
  • 78'
78 minutes in and Hugo Lloris is finally called into action. With Wright-Phillips running onto a through ball, Lloris charges out of his goal, getting to it first on the edge of the area before clearing his lines.
  • 77'
Gyfli Sigurdsson is preparing to come on...
  • 74'
Taarabt plays a delicate reverse ball through to Fabio. The full-back charges forwards and plays a good ball across goal but no-one is there to get on the end of it. I don't think Lloris has been called to make a save yet.
  • 71'
This has been a disappointing game so far. With 20 minutes to go will we see a breakthrough?
  • 70'
    Yellow Card Stéphane M'Bia
Mbia is booked. That has been a long time coming. He has committed a number of fouls so far this afternoon.
  • 69'
    Substitution Emmanuel Adebayor Clint Dempsey
Clint Dempsey comes on to replace the disappointing Emmanuel Adebayor.
  • 65'
Taarabt does superbly well to steal the ball off Naughton but rather than cross the ball into the box he tries one trick too many and ends up boxed in by the corner flag.
  • 63'
As you were at Loftus Road. Tottenham dominate possession, QPR continue to frustrate.
  • 60'
It comes to nothing as Dawson's header flies over the bar when under pressure from Nelson.
  • 59'
Walker takes it but Clint Hill heads it behind for another corner.
  • 59'
    Corner to Tottenham...
  • 56'
Remains balanced at the moment as each side take it in turns to attack. A lively start to the second half but we are still in need of a goal.
  • 53'
Adebayor plays the ball through to Defoe who cuts in and fires a shot at goal, which Cesar somehow manages to keep out with his legs.
  • 52'
Walker hits it but his powerful, curling effort, which leaves Cesar stranded, just skims the crossbar at the far post.
  • 51'
Fabio tugs at Lennon's shirt just on the edge of the QPR penalty area. Free-kick to Spurs.
  • 50'
There's a greater sense of urgency from Spurs since the interval as they continue to hold onto possession. Sadly for Andre Villas-Boas QPR are still proving to be a tough nut to crack.
  • 47'
Bale takes it. It swerves in the air but is straight at Cesar, who manages to gather it at the second attempt.
  • 46'
Ryan Nelson trips Jermain Defoe and Spurs have a free kick in a dangerous position.
  • 46'
Tottenham kick-off and the second half is underway.
  • A disappointing game so far as QPR continue to frustrate Spurs. Their key attacking players have rarely had a sniff. Andre Villas-Boas will be hoping that changes in the second half if his side are to emerge victorious. Will we see a goal after the interval? Stay tuned to find out.
  • Half-time and the score at Loftus Road is QPR 0-0 Tottenham. Spurs have held onto possession well but, apart from forcing Cesar into a superb double save early on from Defoe and Adebayor, have rarely threatened the QPR goal, while Wright-Phillips has wasted a couple of half-chances for Harry Redknapp's side.
  • 45' + 1'
    Three minutes added on...
  • 45'
Wright-Phillips does well to trick his way past Walker before running at goal and beating Dawson. His shot is poor however as he drags his effort wide. He should have at least hit the target.
  • 42'
Parker shoots wide from distance. Lennon, Bale, Defoe and Adebayor have barely had a sniff since the opening minutes. Tottenham need that to change.
  • 41'
QPR continue to sit back and frustrate Spurs. Harry Redknapp will be delighted with the efforts of his side so far.
  • 39'
    Yellow Card Mousa Dembélé
Dembele is booked for a challenge on Mackie and QPR have a free-kick. Taarabt whips it in but it's poor.
  • 38'
Defoe feeds Adebayor but his strike-partner once again loses the ball. It has not been his day so far.
  • 35'
Ten minutes until half-time. Will we see a goal before the interval?
  • 34'
Derry gifts the ball to Bale in the middle of the park and the Welshman sprints away down the wing, however his eventual cross is poor and it's a goal kick to QPR.
  • 32'
Spurs continue to hold onto possession, but again the majority is in the mifield. They're lacking an urgency to attack. Will their patience pay off?
  • 29'
This game has surprisingly been lacking in goal action so far. Apart from Defoe's stunning effort that Cesar pushed onto the post before Adebayor wasted the rebound, and a blocked effort from Wright-Phillips, neither keeper has been troubled. This game needs a goal.
  • 28'
Spurs are passing the ball around well but have nothing to show from it yet. After another patient move Walker plays a one-two with Adebayor before firing a shot wide.
  • 25'
    Substitution Sandro Scott Parker
Scott Parker comes on to replace the injured Sandro.
  • 24'
Adebayor helps Sandro hobble off the pitch. It looks like Andre Villas-Boas might be forced to make an early change here.
  • 21'
Sandro is down clutching his knee. The Brazilian looks in some pain.
  • 18'
Taarabt has shone so far against his former side, while Adebayor has been poor for Spurs. With Defoe not as prolific in recent weeks when alongside the Togo international, he might be looking forward to the departure of his strike-partner to the African Cup of Nations.
  • 16'
Adebayor gifts the ball to Taarabt and the Moroccan decides to try his luck from distance, but his effort is poor and along the ground. Simple for Hugo Lloris to pick up.
  • 14'
QPR are looking very confident. A completely different side to what we were seeing in the early weeks of the season. Neither side has manged to gain an upper hand as of yet but it has been a fascinating start.
  • 11'
Taarabt plays a pinpoint through ball to Shaun Wright-Phillips. The England international decides against taking it first time on his weaker side so cuts in before unleashing a shot at goal, which is deflected wide for a corner by Michael Dawson.
  • 8'
Bale's volleyed first-time cross from the left hand side is poor and goes straight behind for a QPR goal kick. Spurs are doing well to hold onto possession and at the moment look the most likely to break the deadlock.
  • 5'
Tottenham unlucky not to be infront. Jermain Defoe dribbles across the pitch before playing an one-two with Adebayor and cutting in from the left hand side before firing in a shot that Julio Cesar just matches to tip onto the post. The Brazilian is aware and then does superbly to deny Adebayor from the rebound.
  • 2'
Adel Taarabt whips in a free-kick from the right hand side but it is easily cleared by Tottenham. Even start so far.
  • 1'
QPR kick-off and we are underway.
  • QPR have won just once at home so far this season, but have only lost once at home to Tottenham in Premier League history. Is that about to change?
  • The teams are in the tunnel preparing to come out and kick-off is just five minutes away.
  • Ryan Nelson and Adel Taarabt, who was the matchwinner in this fixture last season as QPR prevailed as 1-0 winners, both come up against their former clubs today as the Premier League's basement club faces third-placed Spurs. Will they come back to haunt their previous employers or will Tottenham secure three points that would see them more one step closer to the two Manchester clubs? Stay tuned to find out.
  • Andre Villas has made seven changed to the side that romped to victory against Coventry, with first team regulars Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen, Kyle Walker, Sandro, Mousa Dembele, Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe all returned to the starting line-up. Emmanuel Adebayor partners Defoe (who has six goals in five games against London opposition this season) up front, his last game before jetting off to South Africa to join up with the Togo squad for the Africa Cup of Nations. Bale returns to action after serving a one-match ban for picking up five yellow cards (three of which were for diving).
  • Harry Redknapp makes four changes to the side that drew with West Brom 1-1 in the FA Cup Third Round. Kieron Dyer, whose late strike salvaged a replay, has had his contract terminated so Nedum Onuoha returns to his right-back spot. Elsewhere, Shaun Derry is preferred to Esteban Granero, Fabio starts at left-back instead of Tal Ben Haim, and Shaun Wright-Philips returns to the starting XI after overcoming a knock. Redknapp appears to have set his side up in the striker-less 4-3-3 that produced a 1-0 victory over Chelsea, with Adel Taarabt playing as a false number nine. New head coach of Toronto Ryan Nelsen also starts.
  • Tottenham: Lloris; Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Naughton; Lennon, Sandro, Dembele, Bale; Adebayor, Defoe. Subs: Friedel, Caulker, Assou-Ekotto, Parker, Huddlestone, Sigurdsson, Dempsey.
  • QPR: Cesar; Onuoha, Hill, Nelsen, Fabio; Mbia, Park, Derry; Mackie, Taarabt, Wright-Phillips. Subs: Green, Ferdinand, Cisse, Ben Haim, Faurlin, Bothroyd, Campbell.
  • Team news is in and is as follows...
